Surely that has to be eradicated? Its happening a bit too much. We don't even score from set pieces ourselves. United and Chelsea have always had threats in their team. Skrtel has never scored for us. Vidic has already scored a few this season.

Agreed - we don't score enough from set pieces for my liking. Especially considering the quality of Gerrards delivery. Hyypia apart, we don't seem to have any players who dominate in the air.

As far as conceding too many. As I said before, its down to individual errors. Its not a problem with the system. The trouble is that when a man marking team concedes a goal its easy to figure out the player responsible and blame that player. Zonal marking has a stigma attached to it, but the fact is that if it was inherently inferior to man marking, the true scholars of the game - the coaches and managers - wouldn't employ it. They just wouldn't.

What annoys me the most, is that these so called experts, are happy to perpetuate this myth that zonal marking is to blame for every set piece we concede from, when they should be the ones explaining why coaches / managers persevere with a system that to the untrained eye looks flawed.

We just cant defend them. Its shocking to see how our players end up bunched, miles away from the ball. Our players just dont get it. We would be top of the league, and still in with a shout of the CL if we defended corners correctly. At while I am at it... attacking corners. We are **** at those too.

Perhaps we can lobby fifa to ban set pieces.

Really missed Masch today, they overpowered us in midfield, not surprising as it was 3 v 2. They took Gerrard out out the game and no-one else stood up to be counted.

Thats exactly what cost us. Gerrard was covered by Essien and we had nobody to take over. Lucas is mediocre (and thats me holding back), Mascher would've made a huge difference.

Still, we're fecked in the CL, we can concentrate on the EPL however I fear that that too will be over after the game against the gooners.
