    Ronnie Whelan

Ronnie Whelan believes Rafa Benitez will join Graeme Souness, Roy Evans and Gerard Houllier as Premier League title flops.

The Ireland legend said: "I was on the last Liverpool team that won the title 19 years ago and we couldn't have imagined then it would be the last one for so long.

People ask why, but the only reason you don't win the league is because you haven't got the players that are good enough to win the title.

"Over the years with Graeme Souness and Gerard Houllier, they haven't bought players who are good enough to win the league and that is the be-all and end-all.

    "Are they there now? No."

Whelan is one of the bitterest ex-players around. Can't figure out why but he definately is.

Whelan also said that Berbatov would be the new Cantona.

He analyses a lot of our games on irish t.v., and it's EXTREMELY rare for him to be complimentary.

You would think he had no feeling for the club, and LOVES bigging up his time and basically saying we're nowhere close to then.

Essentially all his punditry seems to consist of comparing us negatively to then.

Hard to watch, as he was one of my faves back then, being from Dublin myself, but he really is an annoying **** now.

I hate seeing him on tv talking about us. Never has anything good to say about us.

He was a Man Utd fan growing up. Maybe thats where his heart really lies!
Jellyfish are 97% water or something, so how much are they doing? Just give them another 3% and make them water. It's more useful

He was harping on about zonal marking on Irish telly after the Chelsea game.

He's not alone in that but he always seems very bitter for some reason.

He's due at a legends day in the Sub bar in Dublin with Rush and Dalglish soon.I hope he gets pulled up on why he always pedal's ****e with no regard for the facts. He's as bad as Gray but at least he can use being a bitter as an excuse

I am sickened to hear an ex player, a club captain, who gave the best years of his career to us, won us countless trophies, pitched in in the aftermouth of Hillsborough as he did, and always respected the club and us as fans abused by some of you.

                            Sickened.

I actually had a bit of a kickabout with him last year, doing the Anfield experience- and a bit of scran and a pint after. The man is red.

Questioning Benitez is not wrong... its a legitimate question whether we will win the league, and if not WHY not.

                            Get a grip.
