I'm not even sure this can be considered "mind games". I know Sam probably isn't the sharpest (despite his extensive attempts to use sports science to try and look clever, its not in the usage Sam. It's in the understanding), but this just seems like a random sidewinder. What the hell is he going crying to the media for. I suppose a random gesture is considerably worse than sending teams out game after game with the sole intention of kicking your rivals of the pitch though. Fair point Sam, you ****ing plum.

And Fergie getting involved. What the Jaysus is that bollix getting mixed up in this for. It couldn't have any less to do with him! A right couple of tarts. However, if they hadn't pulled this little stunt I wouldn't have had the opportunity to have a good laugh at them this afternoon.

Funny how Fergie had nothing to say when Mourinho was runing up and down his touchline celebrating that Porto goal. Bitter senile old cunt is getting the arse pisses thinking about the job Rafa is doing.

                Yep, some of the posts:

You've all missed the constant belittling that Allardyce has done towards Liverpool and Benitez over the last 6 months, including also saying he's a better manager than Ferguson aswell. Not going to cheer this on just because Allardyce is having ANOTHER rant about Liverpool/Benitez. I hate the man. I find him vile. And fat.
Who else thinks this is Fergie's idea?
I don't understand why Fergie doesn't just keep quiet, and allow Benitez to keep running his gob.
Goes without saying that Benitez is a tool of the highest order. That said, Alardyce's comments sound borderline unhinged and smack of sour grapes after watching his team roll over for the scousers. He crossed his arms. So ****ing what?

Bit disappointed to hear SAF buy into all that nonsense.
Strange how Big Sam says this 6 days after the game - why didnt he say it post match?

Wonder if he was spured on by Fergie?
                Benitez said 2 years ago.....

"When you play against the smaller teams at Anfield you know the game will be narrow and compact and at times we were a little bit nervous"

Well, he's right. Everton are a smaller team than Liverpool. It doesnt mean they are a small club. I dont think it was intended as a slight on Everton. Benitez is Spanish - easy to make a mistake like that in your second language.

I watched the game against Blackburn, after the second goal, Benitez smiled and gave a thumbs up to Torres. I dont think that shows contempt.

Looks like Fergie is trying to motivate the "smaller clubs" to improve their performances against Liverpool.
Bizarre from Fergie and Allerdyce to be honest. Pathetic arguments really, pretty disappointed in Fergie coming out with this, it's Benitezesque. Can't we just do our talking in the pitch?

Firstly - so what - allardyce shouldn't even be looking at rafa when his own team have just conceded and his biggest palyer in his squad has been out mucslced and out jumped.

Secondly - what does he want rafa to do when his team goes two nil up at half time - clench his fist, punch the air and scream "****in get in yer *******"

thirdly - if it was so offensive and disrepectful when didn't he or his team respond on the pitch with a bit of fight and effort to prove rafa wrong rather than rolling over and dying conceding another two goals

fourthly - ****ing pussy grow the **** up and act like a man - if that 'gesture' has upset u so much u need to have a serious word with urself

and now onto Ferguson hahaahahahahahah where to start - what are you even getting involved one week ur are sneering at benitez cause he talks about man utd and not liverpool and the next week u are doing the exact same - at least rafa, with his'speeches' on united has someone backbone, some facts and are remotley interesting or relevent - what the **** has his 'gesture' got to do with u, why are u even bothered - and bringing up the old everton comment from like 2/3 years ago well thats just brilliant

There is no doubt that Ferguson, as much as i hate him, has had a brilliant succesful career with united - but the game will be a much better place once this bully ****s off.
Interesting you should call him a bully. He is, I agree. One of my colleagues is an ex-journo and he used to cover Bolton for the MEN. He’s Scouse and a huge Red. Got to fly on their planes and all sorts, and had a close working relationship with Allardyce. Just been talking to him about this and the first thing he said about Fatty was ‘he is a cowardly bully’ and said every time he picked a fight – be it internally or externally - he would beforehand go round finding as many allies as he could, get them onside and then pick his fight. Looks like he’s done the same with Ferguson. It’s no secret the two of them are big pals and I agree with Blacky and redg (and now greenbloodred) that this has been a calculated attack. Unfortunately for those two they’ve totally ****ed it up by getting the wrong end of the stick. Even if Rafa was belittling Fat Sam, they’d still look like a pair of bleating cry babies.

What a triumph for Rafa, and he hasn’t even said anything!

And using it completely unprompted to start an attack on him. I burst out laughin in the office when I first heard it. Im sure thats exactly how Rafa will have reacted too.

It was a quote in an article I read the other day. I think it was in The Guardian and i've been looking for an excuse to use it ever since. However, non brits abroad have often thought I was Irish on my past holidays. It think its because with my retarded North East twang people can't quite associate me with the quintessential English Gentleman, despite my classical good looks, so they just lump me with whatevers closest.

But back to Fergie. I'm not sure if this is quite as impressive as asking his Sport Science department to work out Rafa's net spend, or the equally amusing revelation that his Sports Science department can't manage simple adding and subtracting. It's still a rather impressively comedic wade in

Strange reaction by 'Fergie'! I would have expected something better and more articulate from him after all those years of experience but I just think that Rafa's done a bit of homework on his character and has identified flaws in his make up, closer to what he's used to doing on a football pitch.

The moment was right to get under his skin, as our team has been proving all the doubters wrong on the pitch, so Rafa's been using this as a basis to complete rattle 'Old ginsoak'.

Yes, I see your point. I think most, if not all, of us would agree that the "facts" attack was carefully planned. In response, Ferguson tried to ridicule him at first (the Freud jibe) but since that didn't seem to have any effect he's become more aggressive.

I doubt any of his antics will have any effect on Rafa whatsoever.
                            .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Funny that, I remember having an argument a week or so ago with Fredo who was adamant that Fergie is not rattled... Hmmmmm...... taxi for Fredo.

The stronger we can finish the season, the more Sir Alex Ferguson will feel under pressure and let steam off like a pressure cooker. Rafa's calculated attack depended on how well we would do on the pitch, and at the time we were really breathing off their necks or maybe we were top. It has slightly backfired as we lost the plot a bit but Rafa's assessment of our true value this season was spot on, IMO. I'm sure he's not surprised at how well we're finishing the season.
