Are we better than Man Utd?

Our first team is as good, if not better, than Utd’s. Their squad is stronger. I also think that their club structure (scouting network, youth, reserves, ability in the transfer market) is better than ours but we are getting there (and it’s really pissing off Adolf Glitter [thanks Aza ], hence his constant attacks on Rafa getting more power at Anfield).

Bar Ronaldo, I don't think any of their players would walk into our team. Our squad is just as strong.

However, we're much more impressive. We really, really deserve to win the League this year. **** this grinding out 1-0 wins everywhere. We've been very entertaining and really deserve to win it this year

They are better in some areas, we are in others. They have greater depth, especially up front and in wide areas, but then we have the best striker in the world bar none.

The closest I can get to giving the sort of answer you're after Craig is to say that we have some work to do before we can honestly claim to be ahead of them in many areas. We've improved substantially in the last year or so while imo they've stagnated, and are close to matching them now in many regards, beating them in one or two even, but overall I would have to say that they as a club still have the overall edge in terms of squad, finances, setup, stability etc. For now.......

Just curious to see the feeling on here. Obviously we're all gonna be biased, to one degree or another, but without the red tinted specs where possible, do you think we actually ARE better than them now?

Not 'yes we are in great form', forget form and blips, just generally, all things being equal etc etc, who's better?

I honestly feel .... yes .. we need to continue strengthen in key areas, but I like our set up in general. Obviously those two baboons who own are club need to sling there hook or at least get themselves in order but our squad is maturing really well and I think we have the mental fortitude to challenge domestically year in year out now. We will win the Lg this year and the changing of the Guards will take place, I think Rafa Benitez will do onto United as that ****er has done to our wonderful club.

I have a lot of respect for Demento but him and his fat mate have over stepped the mark in his annual wind up antics in my opinion

Our first eleven when all available is better than Man Utds first eleven. But when you compare the squads, theirs is so much better. It's why they are competing on all fronts and why we are left with only one to go for.

Would be easy to say luck of the draw etc, but that doesn't hold up for me. With cover for Torres we'd have been top of the league. Couple of more match winners thrown in somewhere and we'd probably have done better in the cups. Gareth Barry instead of Lucas and we'd still be in the champions league.

It's such a shame that if you take a player out the spine of our first eleven we are struggling. We rely so much on Reina, Carra, Mascherano, Alonso, Gerrard and Torres. For the odd game if things go our way we can get away with it, but on a concistant basis we struggle. I know we have beaten good teams with certain players out, but we have also dropped points against the weaker teams with those same players missing.

Our squad seriously needs improving this summer to compete all season. We'd be well down the pan if we had an Arsenal style injury crisis otherwise.

But this season we need to replace first teamers if possible, and put the first teamers in the reserves, thus getting rid of our original reserve and improving our squad.

The difference between Man Utd and Liverpool? They have Scholes, Giggs and Tevez on the bench. We have El Zhar, Lucas and N'Gog.

Because i wanted to see who thinks what and i dont know how to post a poll which tells you who voted what.

Dont get me wrong, i dont mind the discussion, i'd just like for people to fall on one side of the fence, at the conclusion of it.

I agree with you about there not being a straightforward easy yes/no/equal but if people envisage themselves in an exam and that question popped up, with yes/no/equal available as multiple choice answers, they'd obviously have to tick one box

I'm not so sure. I think they're better in defence and have more depth/quality options in attack.

Taking our best against their best I'd say it was too close to call, but they definitley have more quality squad options.
