Apart from Virgil and Dom I don't really see any other realistic candidates. I've never like having keepers or forwards as captain, so that would rule out Allison and Gakpo (lol) for me. I don't think a new signing can be captain until they've bedded in, so unless all involved want to do a handover next season, I can't see beyond VvD. Anyway, he is a good cap even if his time is going to become more limited.
      Really?

VVD should 100% stay as captain for me Clive, with Dom as VC, taking over when VVD moves on
I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet

            Wtaf.

Remarkably.... the weirdest thing about that photo is his feet and i just learned this..

            Dominik Szoboszlai wears a UK size 7 (EU 41 / US 9).

Despite standing 6ft 1in (186 cm) tall, his feet are unusually small for his height. This was an intentional technique employed by his father, who made the midfielder wear boots that were too small as a child. The elder Szoboszlai believed that having long legs and smaller feet provided better striking precision and ball control, a theory inspired by Hungarian legend Ferenc Puskás.

I knew he had really small feet.

i didn’t know his old man had bound his feet.

It says a bit about the fact there isnt really much of a selection choice other than Dom for VC, albeit its a young squad.

Definitely not Gomez (unreliable injury wise), or Ali (goalkeeper).

The lack of leadership should be something we look at when considering who to bring in.

I think replacing VVD in his final year would be a slap in the face for a player who has been not only the best centreback of his generation, but also a pretty faithful players to the cause. I dont ever recall a story linking him away in close seasons, despite every team on the planet being interested. I dont think he is perhaps the most inspirational captain we have ever had, and he can look a bit lazy in his style, but he was not the problem in our defence or team last season.

Virge must remain as captain, and given the lack of leaders its essential to get him to sign an extension.
Dom is the only option for VC gi en the uncertainty and flakiness of the rest of them.
