Technically speaking, bosmans/frees dont require a fee and therefore, can be signed with a zero transfer budget - you should've realised this

But no, i dont think they'd stop us making ANY signings, it'd just be signings which require us to pay another club a transfer fee.

I honestly dont think this kind of thing is completely out of the question, if they somehow manage to borrow the £300m or so to build the new ground.

imo worst case scenario would be

"ok we have funding for the stadium but for the nest two or three seasons any transfers would have to be funded by player sales" - it would still be a ****ing nightmare scenario and me personally wouldn't accept it - but imo it would be more realistic and workable

Hmmm, I think the worst case scenario would be a very limited basic budget of say 10-15m, then anything extra from player sales.

Hopefully by the time the new stadium is built we will have some more than decent younger players forcing their way into teh first team picture.

Didn't Gillett say the naming rights would allow us to buy a superstar player? If the stadium was ever built during their ownership he would no doubt be reminded of what he said.

                That's the situation now!

And that's without the extra £300m odd borrowed to build a stadium.

There is no workable business model that has us spending nothing on transfers - the only way to pay current debts let alone future ones is to continue being a successful team - without spending at least £10m-£15m a season that would be very, very difficult. In the current climate there is almost no way to finance a stadium being built. You don't see anyone else building one at the minute either.

My fear is that some idiot bank will lend them another couple of hundred million, in order to fleece us with interest payments.

                      You worry too much.

The situation now is as bad as it will get with these clowns on board, IMO.

Having said that it will be interesting to see how much we actually do have to spend this Summer before judging them.

I dont think thats a realistic scenario, like another poster said if the option was to merely get by with player sales then yes id take that as I think Rafa would keep us competitive on a shoestring budget. The stadium really is vital to us in the medium-long term.

I think it would be more likely that the owners would limit the wage bill and we wouldn't be able to attract top players even if we could sell to buy or go after freebies.

Tough call. We need the stadium for our long term plans, badly need it. So it has to be a close call but I'd opt for the stadium then limited funds for transfers. We've got youngsters and a great manager, and a solid base of great players. That should enable us to go through it.

Would be hard to keep hold of the players we have wouldn't it ?
