I didn't know you were a medical man.
      .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

I'd like to see experienced cover come in but at some point you have to accept that to make it at LFC any player coming out of the youth setup will have to play without much experience. The question becomes are they good enough. With players like Insua Rafa has shown he has a pretty decent idea of when this is true.
I really think that players need more experience to play at this level. 10 games or so playing first team football makes him VERY inexperienced. I'm aware of the arguement that you need chances to get experience, I'd be tempted to either send him out on loan for a year to get 30 more games or so under his belt, or regularly put him on the bench and bring him on in Premiership games were we are comfortable, and play him in the cups.

I think that it could be a sink or swim scenario when he has to play, mistakes could not only affect our title hopes but could also shatter his confidence and affect his development. I take the point about Rafa and Insua, but I'm a little worried that this has more to do with Champions league quotas than him necessarily being ready.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Why not do what we do every year and put in players we have no real intention of playing? There are enough spots that with Johnson, Carragher and Gerrard we can make a decent squad and put in players to make up the numbers.

The CL quota argument holds no water with me at all - we have managed fine for years and the only way to make it less of a problem is to get players developed well enough to take a place on merit. Therefore if Rafa thinks Kelly would be best served developmentally on loan then I think he would send him there.

I agree it shouldn't make a difference but it seems to be something that gets quite a bit of attention (more than it should IMO).
