Can someone please explain to me why we're selling him?

    ****'s sake.

Good luck to him, hope he gets a decent amount of games for them. Think he'll be mainly used as a substitue across any defensive position, which is basically what he'd be with us

Cant blame him for wanting to be at home given that his role in the team would be the same

We're probably £5m better off if you factor in his wages, so it probably was the right move to let him go now rather than on a free
I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet

He's out of contract in the summer and it seems he doesn't want to sign an extension, weren't there reports a while back saying he wanted to move back to Spain?
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

          Ok.

I value the contribution that Arbeloa would make next season, to be higher than the fee we're allegedly getting.

I'd keep him and then let him go on a Bosman, if he really wanted to.

He may have wanted whatever, the point is, he signed a contract and if it's to the benefit of the club that he honours it, then that is what should happen.

              And i believe it is.

Will come back to haunt us this. Unless, Degen steps up to the plate.

Reds and Real agree Arbeloa fee

Arbeloa joined Liverpool in January 2007 for £2.6m

Liverpool have agreed a fee with Real Madrid to sell right-back Alvaro Arbeloa to the Spanish club.
The move is subject to a medical and worth about £3.5m to the Reds who signed the 26-year-old for £2.6m from Deportivo la Coruna in January 2007.
Spain international Arbeloa had one year left on his Liverpool deal and could have left for free next summer.
Defender Glen Johnson's arrival at Anfield this summer paved the way for boss Rafael Benitez to sell Arbeloa.
Switzerland international Philipp Degen is also fit again after rib and lung injuries and another option for Benitez at right-back, while Jamie Carragher can also play in that position.
Arbeloa scored two goals in 99 games for Liverpool and speculation had suggested he could join Real Madrid in a joint deal seeing Xabi Alonso also leaving the Merseysiders.

"I talked to Xabi and told him, as he can see here, that the fans love him and said to him 'Maybe you have to stay," said Benitez recently.
"You can see he is a really good player and I'll be really pleased if he stays. All the players and his team-mates want him to stay. If we keep Xabi I will be very pleased."
Reds striker Fernando Torres is also keen for his Spanish international team-mate to stay at Anfield.
"It would be a bad piece of work if Xabi left - he plays his cards close to his chest so I don't know what is going to happen," Torres told The S*n.
"I'd put Xabi's own wishes ahead of everything else, of course, but he's got three years left on his contract with us and I'd love it if he stays.
"It would be a serious loss for Liverpool if he left this summer."
They must have nicked that from somewhere else.

No point in keeping a player who doesn't want to be here IMO. Rafa asked him to stay last yr, he's done that and we get a fee for him. If as suggested on here he and Carra haven't patched things up after the set to, it makes sense for him to leave.

                        Move on, time is up!
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

That WAS what was agreed last summer, which means we knew we would have to buy a RB for the season coming but still didn't buy Johnson at Xmas when he was available for 'only' £10m. Thats the decision I don't understand.

I think I read/heard somewhere that they're moving Ramos to CB

See this is what I think/thought, but if you factor in wages then it works out at £5m for one season; albeit as an overly simplistic and somewhat naive way of looking at it

But I'm not sure that Arbeloa for one season is worth £5m
