By using up half that quota already, it's an uphill task.

I didnt throw the towel in as such, but i have said (and stand by the point) that we'll need to go and win about 6 on the bounce now to put ourselves back on course.

I'm calling it as it is and if there's a negative slant, it's because our situation IS currently a negative one.

other clubs are getting bettter ie spurs/city while everton/Villa will also be up
so therefore i think the winner this year will lose more games than 4 or certainly not get the 90pts+ previously.

My worry is that to have any chance this year we are going to have to go into all the top 4 clashes as must wins, but Chelsea started off well last year, arsenal wont last the duration and Scum will lose a few or at least draw a few more than last year for sure

Last night's performance was typical of a team that is unable to break down a resolute defence that starts with five across the midfield. It only needs one player with flare and skill to provide that killer pass or decisive break, and we just haven't got one in our armoury with that formation that we play. I don't like saying it, but Xabi was that player last season.
The number of square passes made last night has to be a record, even for us! That was because we lacked creativity and probably a bit of confidence. I don't know enough about Aquilani to judge if he will be the man, but I hope so because if he's not then we can expect some horrible games/results at Anfield.

Spot on. I would even go as far as saying that accepting failure at the earliest possible moment is the key to all success.

On a positive note at least we are winning OR losing. In previous seasons we would have got 1 win and 2 draws (5 points) ad everyone would consider it a good start. Draws are nearly as worthless as losses.

If we manage to win 6 or 7 out of our first 10 games, we won't be far off top. Infact if we are within 5 points come christmas, it's all to play for.

We're only 1 point worse off from the same games last season, and Utd have already lost to Burnley.

also its about 2 years since we have lost at anfield, that run cant last forever.
So our next defeat is due 2011

                  brilliant quote that.

On a positive note, we've got 3 points instead of 5.

United wont win it either. The benchmark this year will be Chelsea. I think (and hope, given that i dont think we'll do it) that they win it.

I agree - I think anyone who wants to win it will have to beat Chelsea this year. I was just trying to put things into perspective a little, and be a bit optimistic

Agreed. Chelsea look to be the team to beat at this early stage of the season, but there are many twists and turns left.

Arsenal also look strong, but they tend to early in the season while the weather and pitches are good. It's not been a good start for us but let's keep calm and see where things are in a couple of months. We have a run of eminently winable games and might be in a much better position come early October. We could of course be out of it by then, but whining and bitching in the interim (not aimed at anybody in particular) will not help anything. Let's get behind the team and push them on to better things.
It's easy to distract fat people. It's a piece of cake.

                          1 Chelsea 6 14
                          2 Liverpool 6 14
                          3 Aston Villa 6 13
                          4 Arsenal 6 12
                          5 West Ham United 6 12
                          6 Hull City 6 11
                          7 Blackburn Rovers 6 10
                          8 Manchester City 5 9
                          9 Manchester United 5 8

after 5 games last year........scum only had 8 pts, so if we win our next 2 we are ahead of last years champions

Also Chelsea started off well under scolari last year...........

The mancs also won about 12 in a row. We'll need to do the same.

Man it's the way we're playing as well, we look lost.
There seems to be a distinct lack of belief in this Liverpool side.
After how strongly we finished last season i thought we'd really kick on.
