At the start of the game he was doing his best to get into more forward positions. At least give him a blast up there and let Gerrard play in a more central role, besides it's where he's said he'd rather play and we all know that Stevie is more than capable of tracking back as well as getting forward, something Lucas isn't capable of doing at this moment in time.

I also think switching their positions would take some of the pressure off Lucas and will let him relax a bit more and play his more natuaral game. Once he gets more comfortable playing there either keep him there or retreat back to a more central position.
we are not a training academy to develop players..we are a title contending team and mediocracy shouldnt be tolerated meaning lucas shouldnt be in team at all nevermind where he should be playing

****ing hell mate, this is the first time he's been given a real run in this team and we're only into the third game of the season so give him a chance. If he's still ****e a few months down the line then fair enough. Besides it's the whole team that are playing poorly not just him.

I think those words might just come back and haunt you one day.

The thing with Lucas now is....his haters are on his case so badly that every single step out of line is highlighted, scrutinised and used against him. It's wildly OTT, total over-analysis and over-scrutiny. He wasn't bad today - made some fine lung-bursting runs forward and tried to be progressive. He's playing under more pressure than every other player cos of the mud routinely slung in his direction from so-called supporters.

I know of a few Arsenal fans who look right clowns having slagged the **** out of Song and Diaby for two seasons. Now look at those two. I thought Song was a waste of space too and suddenly he looks a player. I remember some of them lamenting the fact we got Sissoko while they were "stuck with Diaby". Look how he's developed given time. 99% of the Arsenal support would've binned him and Song ages ago.

Well, Torres hasn't won anything with us. Can't see any logic to your argument.

my point is that arsenal supporters deemed them as ****,they might have improved but have they blossomed into world class players that have won anything???

Song and Diaby between them still aren't good enough, so the Arsenal fans are right.

The only problem with bringing youth through is that they are rarely ready to play first team football on a concistant level. The balance between game time and leaving them out has to be spot on. Wenger has no money so hence has had to bring in too many kids at the same time, and when they go through dips in form he can do nothing about it.

Lucas is at present in a position where he needs to play games, but is still being expected to play a role he isn't proving himself capable of. It's all well and good Rafa asking the senior players to make up the short fall, but Lucas needs to improve fast.

I have not seen todays game so I'll be interested to see how he goes. Liverpool again sounded the dominant attacking force and from what I heard Lucas got forward well on occasion. Lucas has big boots to fill, but I do feel that if Rafa is to play him there the team plan has to change slightly so there is less burden on Mascher and Lucas to orchestrate the play.

Plenty of teams play with two midfielders who are defensive minded yet still create. Maybe our passing will have to have more focus on the wings.
                        Forwards.......

                          WTF

They have been instrumental in Arsenal's good start and ran the show today. If you read Arsenal fans online the general consensus is they were wrong about the pair. It's clear they've blossomed - they've both been in fine form this season, and at 21 certainly can't be dismissed as "not good enough" - similarly Lucas at 22.

Couldn't agree more, they've been great this season, particularly Song.

Just seen Johnson's goal on SS1.

He's fast becoming one of my favourite players, absolutely superb again. He's two footed too which is a bonus.

Contender for Player of the Month?! I would certainly think so
