Is it too obvious a suggestion that he may just have been pissed?

    That's Merson BTW....not Spearing.

He's not pissed, he's like it every week. It is probably the result of his drug and alcohol problems over the years though.

Every week, always the same, always on a Saturday?

Sounds like he's pissed to me

I thought Ngog was fantastic, held the ball up really well and for the most part was on his own and very rarely did he lose out. Well taken goal with his only chance, not more you can ask.

I thought Bertie was absolute bollocks tonight, I would rather have seen one of the kids playing than to see him in his couldn't be arsed performance.
I started to laugh at one point when a wee scottish fella from livingston was giving the first choice italian left back a roasting, jeez Rafa, if you are going to play him, stick him on the wing away from the defence.

Was it me or did it start to get a wee bit tasty late on......
I make no apologies, this is me

Aurelio was superb, always composed and accomplished, always calm, hardly gave the ball away and put in a few excellent deliveries into the box.

N'Gog also lead the line brilliantly, battled hard, made it stick and took his goal beautifully.

Babel was a constant threat and looked confident, good performance.

Spearing was also very tidy and held his own well, some very nice balls through and worked hard too.

Good game from Degen too, a good threat going forward.

                  Now the negatives.

Mascherano was an idiot, poor display and a stupid thing to do which could yet get him suspended. Didnt look like he was focused and to me, looks Barcelona bound. Doesnt look interested.

Dossena, even against League 1 opposition, was woeful yet again. Exposed several times, easily beaten one on one and looked out of his depth. Against a third tier side.

Riera - quality was there, but looked really lazy and as if his main priority was to not get injured. Few balls he couldnt be arsed to chase, never put himself about for any 50/50 challenges and looked very much in 'do just enough but no more' mood. Bit disappointed, because the ability is there.

Overall, a bit fortunate, but job done.
                  Agree with every word

Well, not as certain as you about Barca but the rest absolutely

In fact, this post is almost as ace as my match thread

Which was pretty darn good if I do say so myself

I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet

That was a stunning finish. Theres something about him.....he does seem to get chances and his finishing looks decent. He's quick and tonight at times was really using his strength which he hasnt done much before, he's definitely learning.

                    I like him.

dosenna? i think we plucked him out of casa italia ( grub house next door to carra's bar), he looked a complete mess tonight.

Hate criticising our players, but he looks like a fish out of water playing in our jersey.

Totally agree, I think he might well become a pretty handy player for us in due course.

Dossena won't leave. He's being employed as 'rent a mate' for Aqualani.

i cant understand anybody having a go at Spearing , i thought he played sensibly tonite with a couple of mis-placed passes but on the whole he had a good game.

I think the whole team did well vs a difficult side and next round here we come

yeah yeah - he's just a Mr Average midfielder - be brutally honest Barnie - would you rather have Spearing or say, a "Molby" type midfielder? (pardon the name pun! - i always will love big Jan) he doesn't look like he could make a killer pass.......that's my only criticism of the lad.

He just lacks physical presence.......anybody agree?
