Leeds v Liverpool - Post Match Thread. (Sorry Fredo :D )

A win but we were pretty damn lucky............
    Forwards.......

Have to say that after this performance we really do need to get rid of Dossena. Snodgrass played well on Leeds right, but he was allowed too. Simply not good enough.

I hope Marky was watching! Doss is not the answer!

Decent performances by Degen, Spearing and N'Gog - The rest I expect decent performances from. Cavalieri a bit shaky at first, but got better. I still think he could do a job if Reina was not available.
    Forwards.......

Certainly not pretty, but a better result than i expected. An odd one in that we went with cbs at the end to match their lineup and we had no striker on the pitch either. Did we need Gerrard and Torres on the pitch today? Anyway, another win.

Spearing was poor I thought, he never backed N'gog up and he lost the ball far too often
N'gog was good and worked very hard scored a good goal.
Degan does look threatening going forward which is nice.

We got the result, all that matters. I wasn't expecting a pretty match or an easy win

We have wingers for full-backs. Babel worked hard though

Didn't see the game so have absolutely no idea what went on. But a win is a win in the first round of the league cup.

It's not a pointless trophy though. We need to win SOMETHING this season.

Rode our luck a little but comfortable in the 2nd half.

Aurelio was superb, always composed and accomplished, always calm, hardly gave the ball away and put in a few excellent deliveries into the box.

N'Gog also lead the line brilliantly, battled hard, made it stick and took his goal beautifully.

Babel was a constant threat and looked confident, good performance.

Spearing was also very tidy and held his own well, some very nice balls through and worked hard too.

Good game from Degen too, a good threat going forward.

                Now the negatives.

Mascherano was an idiot, poor display and a stupid thing to do which could yet get him suspended. Didnt look like he was focused and to me, looks Barcelona bound. Doesnt look interested.

Dossena, even against League 1 opposition, was woeful yet again. Exposed several times, easily beaten one on one and looked out of his depth. Against a third tier side.

Riera - quality was there, but looked really lazy and as if his main priority was to not get injured. Few balls he couldnt be arsed to chase, never put himself about for any 50/50 challenges and looked very much in 'do just enough but no more' mood. Bit disappointed, because the ability is there.

Overall, a bit fortunate, but job done.

Wasn't a classic but at least we got the three points.

Thought that big lump of Greek we bought stood up well to the challenge.

Doesn't look comfortable on the ball though.

He was very good at the position he adopted on the field, midfield battler. But you are quite right in that he did not offer enough support to N'Gog. I wouldn't play him behind the striker again if that was his supposed position.

More importantly Marky, is Doss still boss? Or are you washing your hands of him?
