Did anyone notice that we had 4 left footers starting? That has got to be some sort of record surely...

I feared the worst when Mascher was given the Argentine captaincy. I feared it would be too big a distraction and one we did not need.
First his ego went through the roof and now he has the weight of his country on his shoulders. The media over their will be tearing into him if they continue to fail and i would not be the least bit surprised if all he thinks about every day his is job for his country

hopefully argentina won't qualify for the world cup, maradona will get sacked (prob going to happen anyway) a new coach will come in and give the captaincy to someone else - some randomer performs well at the world cup diverting barcas attention to them, and mascher can go about with getting on with his football for Liverpool FC

un-arguably our best players last night were spearing, ngog, babel and degen.
young spearing showed more last night than lucas has all season. he was really up for it from the off and wants to play for the jersye.
ngog was a hero for us last night in the sole striker role. a thankless task which he carried out well.
babel on the right was a terror for them. his pace was jism. on the left he lost his way but in the last 5 mins up top as the main striker he found his feet again. hopefully he gets a chance now to show what he can do for us.
degen - **** me son. he attacked really well and was pretty solid at the back. but injured again!!!!
MOM was snodgrass for them. cracking talent. no wonder barca wanted him.People who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.

I'd absolutely argue both of those points.Originally posted by the rev leeroy brown View Postun-arguably our best players last night were spearing, ngog, babel and degen.

you cant. i told you it was un-arguable. spearing showed talent, commitment, first pass was always to try and go forward, energy. not bashing lucas cause dont want to start another lucas bashing thread, but i'd defo have young jay in ahead of lucas at this moment in time. hopefully rafa will see that too.Originally posted by Reece View PostI'd absolutely argue both of those points.People who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.

whilst i do agree that Spearing did well and it was the sort of performence you wanted from a young local lad coming through (i'd also point out that if spearing performed like that for Arsenal people would be raving about him)Originally posted by the rev leeroy brown View Postyou cant. i told you it was un-arguable. spearing showed talent, commitment, first pass was always to try and go forward, energy. not bashing lucas cause dont want to start another lucas bashing thread, but i'd defo have young jay in ahead of lucas at this moment in time. hopefully rafa will see that too.
But in fairness to lucas, whilst not his greatest fan one could argue (i'll do it for you reece
) that he would have been as good if not better against leeds, and his perfomance against lesser opposition (debrecni in champions league) shows that

Spearing was okay, but I wouldn't put him in my top three last night.
I bet he gave the ball away more times than say Lucas did against West Ham, and this was against League 1 opposition. And as he was playing the "Gerrard" role behind the striker I would expect him to be playing mostly forward passes.
As I've said in another thread, I like the lad, and I watch a lot of reserve games so I'm not basing my opinion on this one game, but I don't think he'll make it at the top level. I'd have Lucas ahead of him without question right now.
