I think (or hope, more think though) the bolded paragraph just explains his withdrawal from the Denmark squad to recuperate and does not indicate that he's injured again.

The only possible reason we'd have to sell him if we knew for definite that he was never going to recover from his back problems and wanted to flog him before he was worth nothing. As far as I know that hasn't happen yet.

The thing is by that point his value will have plummeted to £1m, we need to cash in while the time is right.

One of the best things Houllier did was sell Fowler for £11m when he knew there would only be depreciantion on his value. I know its ruthless but all good managers have to be.

It could well be! I remember him having a lot of problems with his back as well, but can't remember the reason for it.

gerrards back injury was due to his posture and growing pains though - i'm sure he grew like 10 inches in the space of like 2 mins that kinda ****ed him - they always said at the time that it would be sorted. - Not sure what the cause of aggers injury is though i did hear a 'rumour' in the summer that benitez had lined up upson as aggers replacement if we couldn't get him fully fit. i never posted it at the time becvause it was one of of those of a mate of a mate of mate who's brother works with carra's brother haha
