The article is a joke, give the guy a chance ffs
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Let's not over-react to every mis-placed criticism, or we'll start sounding like we are not the most intelligent fans in the world!!

The reality is that at Villa Acquilani was good at times and not so good at other times. But it is very early days for a player recovering from a long-term injury and it is far too early to paint him either as an idiot or a genius.

Give the lad at least a full season before judging him.
Sometimes it take players more than a season to settle in
and play as we fans expect them to.
We all know we can't afford to have any more players fail for us.
Aquilani will not be a failure.

You need to give the lad time, a number of players make a slow start to life in the Premiership, I remember Dennis Bergkamp had a horrible strat to his career at Arsenal and you could probably have written a similar article about him. But no one would judge his Arsenal career on those early games

Why are there no articles like this about Villa and them signing Stewart downing while he was injured and has only just come back and has not instantly played like the greatest player in the world, but not a peep from the media about wasting 12mil (I think) on a busted player.

Ok there might have been but I don't go looking for villa news.
            You learn nothing reading signatures.

Because they r villa and are doing how many expected maybe a bit better, we are underperforming massively so there is bound to be critics looking for why and it's fair to say aquiliani taking Till Christmas to be fit has defo had a negative effect on our season

Could it be because Downing is English?

It's a classic bit of lazy journalism. As soon as we start winning games they have to find some negative angle. He's made a solid start. Some good passing and has been taking up some good attacking positions. He needs time to adapt to the pace. He made a few tired mistakes. But in time he could be a great player. A lot will depend on how much 'confidence' rafa has in him.....he needs a good run of games and will benefit playing alongside masch. The media change like the wind and as soon as he smashes one in from 25 yards they'll be lording him.

one other thing i noticed was he got into good positions but other players didnt pass to him.

i thought it a little strange but then he is not used to playing with the rest of the team and vice versa

I think he'll be much more influential in a fast flowing confident team. You can see his skill level is very high, his control & passing are excellent and he seems to read the game very well. It was always going to be difficult for a rusty playmaker from a softer league to exert himself instanly in the premier league especially in an out of form team.

So as soon as we get back some form he'll prove his worth I'm sure.
