Lol, yeah i know. I assumed that the roads were all cleared around anfield and thawed out with salt. Listening to the radio yesterday though and the whole area is apparently covered in ice.
"If Gerrard continues to play up front, leaving this lack of creativity and intelligence in Midfield, the season WILL be over by Xmas."
I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

Just seen that absolute nobody Gary Stevens, the ex-Spurs cunt, on SSN laying into us for calling the game off. What the ****? He said "if a club has a few players out then they'll lean towards calling it off, if they're flying and have everyone fit, they'll do everything they can to have the game go ahead". **** you you cunt. It favoured them if anyone, what with Lennon being out, and in case it escaped his ****ing attention, about a hundred games were called off this weekend. How can Sky justify allowing that **** to sit there and make wild accusations against us alone, while not commenting on any other ****ing postponement? Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

So true. Moments earlier they had just showed Upton Park which was completely and utterly snow free and barely passed comment on that game being called off
, then they cut to Anfield, absolutely covered in snow and ice, and lay into us for calling it off
I turned it off immediately.

Yes but we did ourselves no favours by holding stadium tours yesterday. If it's too dangerous for people to attend a match it must be too dangerous to go to the stadium for anythingOriginally posted by Pablo1981 View Post

Surely there is a number element that is the problem?Originally posted by Redspin View PostYes but we did ourselves no favours by holding stadium tours yesterday. Why? If the Health & Safety nazis say it's dangerous, then it's as dangerous for a few dozen as 45,000.Originally posted by dww View PostSurely there is a number element that is the problem?
Personally, I think it was a massive over-reaction and the game should have gone ahead. But I'm from an era when games were only called off in the most extreme circumstances, which yesterday's bit of snow and ice would not have been so considered. I've been to many, many games at Anfield in much worse weather down the years.
Even on Friday when SSN showed the scenes outside Anfield in Walton Breck Road I was amazed it was called off when my own road in Surrey looked ten times as bad. But that didn't stop the elderly people living near me going about their daily business with no obvious life-threatening accidents.
We're a bunch of wimps living in a nanny state these days unfortunately

So no accidents could be caused by the weight of people on ice then and crowds aren't in any way more of a problem than individuals? I don't buy that. In a way it was probably over cautious but given the weather forecast of more snow I think it was much better to cancel the game ahead of time allowing fans to not travel for a game with low odds of being on.Originally posted by Redspin View PostWhy? The stadium tour is also almost completely undercover, so once inside the snow isn't an issue. If people want to go out in the snow it's really not different to going shopping or to work etc. The problem with the match is the volume of people. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
