Loan Signings

Sign of the financial times that we are linked with loan signings. I'm not against them at all when you can get quality in. You couldn't question the impact of Larsson at Manure or golden balls at Meelan and Landon Donovan seems to have a bit about him too.

To me a loan signing with a view to a transfer is the perfect way to do business. How much would we have in the kitty if we could trial all transfers before committing to buying? Enough to build a stadium probably.

Anyway I know that we've loaned out plenty of players over the years, but who have we loaned in?

I can only think of Paul Jones to cover the keepr crisis a few years back.

Ronnie Rosenthal, probably our most significant loan signing, inspired us to the title.

Rafa will only bring in quality players, he wont take a 'chance' on a loan signing.

I actually thought when we were linked with McGeady and Celtic with Pennant last Christmas, a loan deal for both would have been ideal. We could have continued paying Pennant’s wages and Celtic his. I don’t think he’ll cut it if he ever joins the PL, but if there was genuine interest, then that would have been a low risk way of finding out.

I was thinking of Ronnie Rossental and David Speedie, but couldn't remember exactly whether we loaned them before signing them. Rossental made a serious impact when he arrived, he'll be famous for the miss against villa though.

I will always remember Rocket Ronny for his brilliant hat-trick on his full debut away to Charlton (when they played at Selhurst Park). Left foot, right foot and a header - perfect.
