Or create a thread so all the "positive" people can bury their heads further in the sand.

It's an unfortunate fact that fans' internet forums are a daytime refuge for the swivel-eyed contributors to the likes of 6-0-6.

A fan supports the club through thick and thin. As disappointing as last night was, it has to be put in perspective. I'm old enough to remember losing to Worcester City of the Southern League in the FA Cup, as a very young lad. But life went on and when we got promoted and went on our amazing run of success my support for the club was no greater than when it had been when we were languishing in Division Two, with Everton the big name in the city.

Unfortunately many of the 6-0-6 knee-jerk drones don't really understand what being a real supporter is all about.

If we win we support the team; if we lose we support the team; and we always back the manager until and when he goes and then we carry on supporting the team irrespective of results.

Personally I'm well over last night's game and am looking forward to the Stoke game. Whatever the outcome I'll still be backing Rafa.

That's where there is a problem IMO. This is rather dismissive and offensive.

I was watching Porstmouth fans yesterday mate, and the dedication and joyousness they took about their task of clearing the snow in and around their ground made me think that they are true supporters. And their club is going nowhere, financially on the brink and close to being relegated.

I wonder if we have the same spirit.

hardly. The problem is that Rafa has clearly lost the players, and we are in a complete tailspin at the moment.

People are putting the blinkers on, saying its just injuires, rafa has no money etc etc. Thats burying your head in the sand.

I don't read the tabloids. I watch the games. The players are playing like they don't give a ****. That comes down to motivation, or the lack there of.

To be fair Harvey, if I was being paid 120k a week, I wouldn't be needing any more motivation. Besides, I associate 'motivating people' with corporate bollocks. Treat people like adults and they'll respond like ones, meaning a ****ing good kick in their arses is needed.

I'm not really sure or convinced of the link between posting on here and 606 type shows, but i'm fairly sure that nobody, whether they're down in the dumps at our failings or moaning about them, is at the point where they're ceasing to support the club or the players. I doubt anyone doesnt WANT Rafa and the lads to turn it around and i'm pretty certain that everyone here would be delighted to see us win tomorrow and embark on a long winning run.

All of us who'll watch the game tomorrow, weather it's at Stoke on TV, will be backing the players and the manager to get a result.

So i find myself curious as to what it is about recognising what a torrid season we're having, and identifying that it's not good enough, that makes people not 'real supporters', as you imply.

Someone who is gutted at our predicament at the moment, who's hurting at seeing what's happening and who desperately wants it to get better ASAP, surely has those feelings because they care about the club.

What does a 'real supporter' do that they're not? Bearing in mind that, once again, none of us (as far as i can see) have turned our backs on the club.

I'm sure we all know that there's been bad times before which we've recovered from and gone on to succeed again from. None of that makes the current scenario hurt any less.

If (and it wouldnt happen, but supposing it did) the areas around Anfield needed fans to help clear them, i'm sure there'd be people doing it.

Luckily in our case, we can get it cleared via more conventional methods.

So aside from this, and bearing in mind our fans are attending games, cheering the team on and doing pretty much all they can as fans in the stands, what arent Liverpool supporters doing, that makes you wonder about the spirit?

To me, it's natural that fans will be down and feeling negative, i cant imagine anyone who's genuinely upbeat about our situation but surely this is simply normal human emotion and a pretty usual way to feel, given what's going on.

I'm not sure that this natural human reaction makes anyone a lesser fan.

If you're more on about people, for example, perhaps wanting a change in management - then they're only feeling that way, because they obviously feel the fortunes of the club would improve via a change.

I think it boils down to simply whether people think our fortunes will change under the current manager - or whether a new one is needed to guide us forward into the future. Regardless of whether someone sits on one side of that argument or the other, their status as a 'real fan' isnt under scrutiny for me.

I'm not all that keen on people going on the radio etc and slagging off the team, that should be kept in-house IMO, and there's nothing to be gained by giving the media vultures what they want.

But amongst ourselves, discussion is fine and neither those who want the manager to stay, nor those who want a change, are any lesser of a fan, for feeling as they do.

i dont think we do tbh, the players have hardly had much encouragement fromt he crowd this season and whenever u see pompey at home there's always a good atmosphere.

you're probably right there but it is a 2 way thing, the team should be making us cheer as much as we should be cheering them

I remember the debrecen game, it was like people had turned up just to get their vouchers for later rounds as no-one was interested and there was minimal noise, it was the same the other night against reading, their fans outsung us for 65 - 70 mins or more of the 90 mins, but it's not like it was under Houllier, I used to have a season ticket and I remember one particular game when the 2 men behind me were talking about coronation st rather than watching the game
