    Lucas

ok there's something i've noticed recently, well throughout the season, but it came to mind with the penalty that should have been awarded against stoke, and the yellow card that followed the incident.

has anyone else noticed that the referees offer no protection to lucas, and i mean absolutely none. brown's challenge against pompey, the amount of free-kicks against him, the red cards he's been given, all of this is very, very harsh on the lad, and i can't but help thinking, that we as liverpool fans have a part to do with that. ever since he came to the club, he's been under fire from his own fans, who have been saying he's ****e over and over again regardless of his performances, and that has spread to the media, and is now "a fact" as far as fans of other clubs are concerned - has this influenced the referees in some way? it's unbeliveble some of the challenges against him, and more often that not, refs ignore it, yet when he makes a slight challenge it's a foul, almost every time. i personally find it really annoying and i can only imagine how he must feel when he's treated like this.

I must say I've noticed that myself too. That's all I've got to say

Lucas is one the only players that has been deserving of the Liverpool shirt this season, he was immense yesterday. Can't complain about refs not giving him anything when our own fans treat him like ****. Looks like he's been spending a lot of time in the gym too.

No, he cannot tackle, that is why he gets so many red and yellow cards, silly little fouls, although yesterday's decision to book him instead of awarding us a penalty was an absolute disgrace, is it me or are the latest bunch of premiership refs the worst by a country mile?

After all that he keeps on trying to give his best too, and you see genuine delight from him when we're doing well.

One of very few good things to come from this season.

ok yes, he makes some silly fouls, but all the players do. on a lot of occasions when he tackles he acctually get's the ball, but the refs still award a foul against him. it's so frustrating, and it's happening through out the season, which makes me think there's more to it than just poor refereeing.

I always said he'd do well at a mid-table club and he's proving me right.

He is good but he is not good enough for LFC and not what we need IMO. We have Mash to do the defensive work in the middle. We need an Alonso to play with him who can dictate the attack and not have to worry about defending as mash has that covered. Oh what a midfield that would be

                            Maxi-----Alonso-------Mash-----Riera

                            Oh what could have been

If it wasnt for Lucas we would be in a relegation battle now, fact!

As for giving away "silly fouls" most of them are in the opponents half on around the half way line. Its called breaking the game up. If his name was Fletcher and he played for the scum he would be praised for it..........however......................

A proportion of the "most knowledgable" fans in the world fail to appreciate this or the fact that to date Lucas is still our best player this season.
