People expect Lucas to be all about brazilian flair. But he's playing in central midfield FFS, where much more than flair is needed. He's got excellent technique, his short passing is top notch and he has got a great engine and is now allying all those qualities with grit and determination. He has improved no end on his defensive side. Now the next step is to make those excellent forward runs he makes into more productive ones. He'll be a top class player when he manages that.

No i wouldnt.Originally posted by Harv View PostNah, Lucas was on his knees praying before contact had even been made.
If that had been given against us you would all be whinging about it.
If a player's on the floor in the box and a defender kicks him in the face, is it not a foul because the player's already on the floor?

Surely this is also due to people not giving him forward options no? Have you ever played football before? If you've got the ball at your feet and the forward runs are non-existent, or are poor, your passing is going to be affected too. I've seen Lucas made some fantastic first time forward passes, some of them defence splitting ones. He doesn't have the long ball prowess of Alonso, but his short passing is probably better, he keeps the ball very well and is always asking for it.Originally posted by Bender View Postyou mean stop going backwards and sideways
Your bashing of him is getting tedious and denotes a total lack of football knowledge mate sorry.

On Saturday this certainly was not the case, he was the box-to-box player we hoped when bought. He got back and won possession back on a number of occasions, (lot of the time this goes unnoticed as he nicks the ball whilst staying on his feet as opposed to the extravagant Mascherano, Carragher & Gerrard sliding tackles.)Originally posted by Bender View Postyou mean stop going backwards and sideways
He was also the furthest man forward on occasions and got into some great positions, including two positions which should have resulted in two penalties. His pass and move play was also great, unfortunately we were let down by our forward lines inability to hold the ball up, N'gog especially.
Personally I feel he is inhibited when Gerrard plays, and seems to play better when Gerrard is not in the team. I hope that we get to see more opportunities for Lucas to get forward, goals are the next step to really bring him on.

He's been better than Mascherano every single time they've played together this season, so why is Masch immune from your criticism? For that matter he's been better than any of our other midfielders - Gerrard included - and would be the first name on the team sheet for me. If he was playing for Man U or Arsenal the media would be hailing him as a superstarOriginally posted by liverpooltj View PostHe is good but he is not good enough for LFC and not what we need IMO. We have Mash to do the defensive work in the middle. We need an Alonso
to play with him who can dictate the attack and not have to worry about defending as mash has that covered. Oh what a midfield that would be
Maxi-----Alonso-------Mash-----Riera
Oh what could have been

bit harsh that son. he'll make it in the prem alright and if not with us then with a small team such as a hull, stoke, bolton etc...Originally posted by Redspin View PostI've seen enough of Spearing to predict with confidence that he'll end up plying his trade at Tranmere Rovers and he'll never make a Premier League player while I've got a hole in my arse
he really isnt as bad as some on here make out.People who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.

Hilarious.
Have a wee look at your own fine input in The Lucas Thread...If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

He has about the best tackling stats in our team, don't talk rubbish.Originally posted by Kinell View PostThe guy can't tackle, very clumsy and can't time his challenges properly. Why would he need protection anyway, does **** all except be a middle man for the wing backs.
