I'm basically saying that you shouldn't always try to fix something that ain't broken.

It's a stupid argument anyway because it won't happen, although it should be given some thought.

If a lesser player is keeping a world class player out of the team then he is obviously doing something right.

Normally yes, but Torres and Gerrard are undroppable. If the team's functioning well and Torres/Gerrard are fully fit, they'll play well.

If we'd beaten Reading and Cavalieri had played well, would you have kept Reina out?

All players are droppable, why shouldn't they be.

I would say that if Reina was injured for 6 weeks and Cavalieri kept clean sheets against Chelsea, Arsenal and Mancs due to some fantastic goalkeeping and not just a great defence, then he would certainly be justified in keeping his place on that form.

I'd like to see Maxi start, he's come here to get some games and will have had a couple of weeks worth of training with the squad under his belt. With Carra at right back I don't think we need the protection of Deggan at right mid for Wolves.

I'd be tempted to leave Gerrard on the bench, not because of recent performances but because of fitness, he's quite clearly not been fully fit when he's returned before and has always been thrown back into the starting lineup. I'd give him minutes from the bench first like we do with most other players.

It might be a bit controversial to say this but I think up the circumstances at the moment we actually play better with Gerrard. It seems that there is so much pressure on him and the team to succeed when he is in the team. The expectation is double because we should be expected to steamroller teams like Wolves with him in the starting 11. Pressure all around when he isn't operating at his best.

Of course it can be argued that a half fit Gerrard is preferable to a fully fit average player but this doesn't take into account the pressure the other 10 guys feel.

Serious? imo our few good performances this season have been when Stevie was not playing. I think the break might do him good.

There's no point in putting gerrard back in unless he's 110% fit. The other players seems to feed off gerard's input, so if he's not his usual self, our tempo tends to drop dramatically. In any event, he'll start on the bench even if fit I imagine.

Aquilani should play off Dirk again.

Whatever team we put out we need a strong performance and 3 points. It will put even more pressure on Spurs, City & Villa.

as stevie has been rushed back to quickly once already and as bolton have been going through a ****tier season than us, i'd leave ste on the bench unless defo needed last 15 mins or so. aqua played a real good game behind the front man so why change it i say. that saying, it should be:

                          reina

                          degen
                          carra
krygiakos ( if dagger not fit )
                          aurelio

                          maxi
                          lucas
                          mash
                          riera

                          aqua
                          kyut

I'd like to see that team but I suspect again we'll go with Degen RM Carra RB and Insua LB, with Maxi on the bench again but likely to get a longer run out ~30mins

typo! totally agree with you. A rest or as good as change. IMO, a half fit Gerrard is about as much use as Gary Neville in a diplomatic peace keeping position with NATO in Iraq.

Maybe leave Aquilani behind Kuyt and put Gerrard into CM, leave out either Mascherano or Lucas.
