Without breaching confidentiality, I can tell you that during those conversations with the Liverpool hierarchy, the details of a 5 year plan were outlined to me: with an emphasis upon stability.

So do you think the levels of revenue/income are the same in the europa league, as they are in the CL?

Champions league will provide more rvenue, just by being in it, add to that more TV revenue, and higher profile games meaning more fans and higher ticket prices for earlier round games. Add to that sponsorship deals will be more valuable if we are in the Champions league.

I tend to agree with Craig that extensive talks between the club hierarchy and GB are pretty unlikely. That said Purslow has been pretty media friendly and I wouldn't be surprised if Ballague wasn't spinning out a tale from an interview with him. The basic content of the information there seems pretty similar to what Purslow said more publicly a month or so ago. I really do dislike the way Ballague sells himself as an insider.

Of course we will be more valuable if we're in the CL.

It's a no brainer. I dunno what cream was on about.

This article makes a lot of sense.

As much as I have been disheartened by some of games this season if this plan is the real deal then I wouldn't trust any manager other then Rafa to take the club forward.

The finances probably made sense (to them) when they bought the club.

i don't mean to sound patronising but there has been a credit crisis since then.

It was telling for me, when reading the article that the correlation between performance and wages was something which was inferred by RBS, not the owners (if we believe GB)

My reading of it is that the owners didn't want to pay down as much debt as RBS were calling for, but that RBS made the point that the club can't sustain that much debt because it can't count on a top four finish every season.

Why not? Because it's not paying enough in wages to be able to guarantee it. Can't pay enough on wages because we're paying more on interest if you see what I'm getting at.

So I wouldn't get too excited by Ballagues article - he's been sold something of a dummy. It's pretty clear - the owners want to sustain the debt whereas RBS want it paid back.
                  Really?

Liverpool fans have been bull****ted about various "5 year plans" for the last 15 years now, and guess what.......we're no closer to winning the premiership now than we were when roy evans was in charge. What a joke our club has become.

Isn't this all the same stuff he's told SOS. Purslow looks like someone who has formulated a message and wants to get it out there. I don't think Ballague or SOS could invent the type of detail they have. To me it's no different than Rafa inviting Paul Tomkins in for the day. They seem to be a group of people who are looking to proactively set the agenda by making sure their information is out there.

Was there an initial 5 year plan when H&G took over?
