He's distinctly average and always be, plus he's as bad as Harry Kewell on the injury front.

What are these injuries? He's had one bad injury as far as I can remember, which he's just recovered from.

Seriously if you think Matthew Etherington is a better player than Riera then you're deluded. Don't forget our Albert is first choice for Spain - the best ranked International team - even ahead of Mata and Silva who are both amazing according to most on here.

Personally i think he's almost a perfect style of player for the left wing with our style of play and, as mentioned previously, it's no mistake that we seem to play better with him in the team and Insua looks more confident too. Way better than Benayoun on the left.........his best positions are AM and RM and IMO he's generally poor when played on the left.

Hopefully he'll remain fit for the rest of the season and play a significant role in us getting into the top four

The one injury (after Torres/Gerrard) that had me weeping was not Benny or Johnson, but Riera. If he stayed fit we wouldn't be having a 'fight' for fourth right now. We would be fighting for third with Arsenal.

Riera - good to see him back and hopefully thats him fit until the end of the season.

I think he adds so much balance to the team. He no world beater, he frustrates with the best of them. But last season in the games we played well he was often involved.

Be good to see him whack one in from 25+ yards again.

His corners looked decent against Bolton too. I think its important to have some natuarally left footers in the team.

My only fear is he will be rotated with Benni, Maxi & Babel or even Auerlio.

He's missed so much of the season, be good to see him given a real run in the team.

I think we're best of with Riera starting, and bringing Benayoun on as an impact sub. Aurelio shouldn't play LM, Maxi will surely compete with Kuyt on the right, and Babel... Babel isn't fit to lace Riera's boots in my opinion.

I know what you mean as you'd expect us to have a much more attacking left winger. He is best at LB IMO but away in certain games he's a more than useful option there when on form. Don't forget it was his brilliant cross for Kuyt's header against Stoke which hit the bar in the last seconds.

I find that when he plays LM, he remains far too deep and close to the LB (Insua). He should be moving forwards, pressing the opposition full backs but yet Insua ends overlap's him everytime. I also find he hoofs the ball into the box far too much from long distances.

IMO, Insua is much better going forwards and can beat his man like a proper winger. I feel his crossing is better than Aurelio's or rather more accurate. Insua has a different technique when crossing though - he kind of dinks it into the box with hardly any curl. Aurelio properly bends the ball into the box but he's frequently inaccurate. But when he is (as per your example above), his crosses look spectacular. Obviously Aurelio has the better set piece delivery and I still think he's better defensively though. But I highly doubt he will be at Liverpool next season - he's already rejected one pay-as-you-****ing-play contract offer.

Insua isn't good enough to be a regular starter for Liverpool and never will be.

We more than likely need to sign a new left back yes, as Aurelio looks like he's off.

But even the greatest left back would have struggled in our defence this season. The fact is, all our defenders have struggled. Now that we're starting to get back to good form, Insua as well as all the other defenders are starting look good again. Prior to this season, Insua always played well and only made one mistake (that was against Hull away last season). And his performance on Saturday was simply stunning.
