    Injury update

    From Sky Sports :
Benitez also revealed that Fernando Torresand Glen Johnson are not expected to return to action until March at the earliest.
"Glen is still progressing," added Benitez. "It's looking like he will be back in another three or four weeks. When he was first ruled out, it looked like he would be out for two months and it has been a month so far.

"Fernando is progressing too. Hopefully he will be back in the same time, while Yossi [Benayoun] could return in two weeks."

We can forget about Torres this season.

Torres should have had his hernia done too, although saying that I would not be surprised if he did and its been kept under wraps

because IMO they were idiots not to get it done straight away rather than trying to manage it and they would look like fools now

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Liverpool FC handed fitness boost ahead of Everton clash

Fabio Aurelio is in line for a return to Liverpool's squad for the visit of Everton on Saturday after recovering from a calf problem which has sidelined him for the past fortnight.

The Brazilian suffered the injury during the 1-1 draw with Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium but looks set to feature in the vital fixture at Anfield with Reds' assistant manager Sammy Lee also filing positive reports on the progress of Martin Kelly and Nabil El Zhar, who returned from the sidelines in a reserve team fixture on Tuesday evening.

He said: "Fabio is back in training which is good news.

"Whether he will be ready for Saturday, well we will have to assess that in the next few days.

"But the positive thing is that we have Nabil, Martin Kelly and Fabio back in training."

Kop boss Rafael Benitez has issued a rallying call to his squad to be more prolific in front of goal ahead of the traditionally fierce battle for local pride at the weekend. With Liverpool's back line looking relatively formidable during their unbeaten run of six games, the Spaniard is demanding the same of his attacking players.

He said: "You have to keep analysing the big picture. If every week you think it is one step forward then one step back, you will become very nervous.

"So it is important to keep a perspective and giving confidence to the players. We have just had another win (against Bolton) and another clean sheet. That is a positive.

"Okay, it wasn't as good in attack as we want it to be but we have to keep pushing and we know can improve. We need more positives than negatives.

"The players know that we are improving. We are doing much better in defence and that is a big difference but we have to improve in attack - that is clear."

Bit of positive news at least.

I initially thought that too, but I'm pretty sure that Rafa was quoted as saying that by getting surgery you introduce scar tissue to the area which increases the likelihood of a re-ocurrence so in the long term he should be better off. Hopefully the inforced absence for the knee will give the hernia sufficient time to heal fully.

That is what was reported in Spain too. They mentioned the potential for reducing the range of muscle contraction/expansion too.
