    Do We Need Carra?

    Do we?

Liverpool star's contract talks on hold

Carragher will seek assurances from Rafa Benitez about his long-term prospects in the first-team before committing to a new contract at Liverpool.

Carragher, 32, has delayed contract talks with his hometown club until the summer, when his deal will have just one season left to run.

Yes we do, until we have another player with his leadership skills.

Well what do you propose? Get rid of our most versatile defenser and go spend £40m signing 3 defenders who can cover every position?

We do not have another player that can marshal, organise, instruct, 'bollock, punch the living daylights out of arbeloa, stop AC Milan from scoring in 2005 with his dead legs, who's dying to get their penis in the way of the ball hitting the back of the net' at the back.

His knowledge, experience, leadership and most importantly versatility across the back four suggests we do.

Aurellio on his way, Degen always injured, Agger injury prone, Johnson with his niggles, Carra is key to lead the back four and fill any positions needed for team.

Spot on. Carra and LFC are a perfect match. Hes a veteran and wants assurances, give him them. Becouse we wont find another Jaime Carragher. And number one is Carragher......

We need him for as long as he needs us. Should b the same as big Sami.

Let him move on when he isn't getting as many first team starts as he wants . I still think he is good enough for next season, maybe year after start to bring his heir apparent kelly in .

I, for the life of me cannot believe this is even being discussed here! Even with his ageing legs there are only four better players in our entire squad, none of which are defenders, there are NO better leaders than Carra and no-one with the level of commitment and un-dying loyalty of the man for this club. When Carra finally goes his shirt number should be retired and he should be offered a job for life at the club. One of the few players that is deserving of the term LEGEND!

For the moment, yes. I thought he was finished but he's proved everyone wrong recently. Everyone knows what he is and isn't good at...what he isn't good at is really hurting our chances of being the passing side I think Rafa wants us to be

As bad as he was at the start of the season I dont know if now is the right time to replace him.

But if he isn't willing to be slowly phased out of the team at the age of 32 I dont think the club has any option.

If Rafa stays Carras days are numbered, Rafa is not the type of manager to give first team assurances just look at Sami over the past few years.

This raises another question, why isn't Carra willing to fight for his spot?? Sami was told a couple of years before he left that he wouldn't get much game time but continued to put many more games under his belt and I think the determinatio to keep his place kept him in the best shape of his life.

The question is wheter Carra, a player that wants to couch this club in years to come has the right mentality at this point.

If he leaves his presence will be missed but no player should be given first team guarentees. imo.

Agger and Skrtle have performed very well as a centre back pairing. I'm not saying he wouldn't leave a void because he would but there an arrogance about Carra over the past twelve months that I didn't know existed and to be honest it doesn't suit him.
