Yes but only if he wants to play for us.
If he resigns and performs he plays. If his form dips, and others are doing better, he's on the bench. No room for sentiment IMO.
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

Yes he we do need him, he's usually the one that organises the defence, also it seems that our other defenders are quite injury prone, look at the number of games Agger and Skrtel miss, Carra provides consistency, and is still playing at a high level
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

People who are questioning the discussion will always vote yes because he has LFC running through his veins.

The problem for me, is that it doesn't sound as if the lad wants to sit on the bench if needed.

Very valid point I think we should hold on to him for another season and then release him on a free because of his service.

This Summer would probably be the wrong one to get rid of such big character. We need to keep what we have at the moment and invest in some additional quality in the summer.

More importantly though as i already said he has to be willing to fight for his place, Skrtle and Agger although injury prone, seem to be the way forward.

Its a major issue, and raises serious questions about his ability to manage in the future. Sure everyone wants to play every game but you have to take everything into consideration and say I can still do a job here and I will prove it to the manager out on the pitch.

Saying he wont sit on the bench sends out the wrong signal to the rest of the squad, for that alone a strict manager would pull him aside.

One of the finest team players ever to come out of Liverpool

An absolute rock, an inspiration to all around him and a real man's man.

He has stated publicly that he will not be able to be a benchplayer it's got to be the first eleven or nothing. That's just how he is.

Rafa must select his team on merit and age is against Carragher. I know some players can play at the highest levels into their late thirties and hopefully Carragher will be one who can. But if he decides to go in search of some first team action elsewhere or even to retire then good luck to him he deserves to get what he wants.

It wont be the same without him but that's life I'm afraid.

It wouldn't surprise me if he became a great coach and even a great manager

So Carra, wan'ts to be playing for a lower side rather than play less games for liverpool ? Is that the crux.

Always thought Carra would be there when, and where Liverpool needed him, regardless.

But i suppose that was'nt a realistic view really.

He's liverpool through and through, but it seems playing football comes first for these lads.

Hope it turns out that he stays with us, then moves into coaching...teaching the liverpool way to new recruits, young and old.

I think thats what we all thought mate, but it seems like it was just a romantic notion, shame, but he will always be one of the greatest legends, Istanbul was amazing.

This is a no brainer - Sell him and clear some of the debt.
Those that hid Anne Frank were breaking the law.
Those that killed her, were following the law.

Great idea, how much would we get for him

maybe enough to upgrade the ownr's flight tickets on their next visit.

I know, it's just that over the years, i've slated players for wanting to play for a lesser club rather than play less games for LFC, and to just be there incase we need them, and now i think i've been very harsh.

                          It's just how football is.

He's a great player and we should do our upmost to keep him. But if he wants to go thats fine aswell, it will be hard but he's definaltely replaceable.

I think replacing him technically isn't going to be the real problem, its the whole atmosphere around the club, the sense of lost when he leaves. Its something that we can do without this Summer as we have seen what the effect the loss of Sami and Alonso had on the club last year.

Carra will know this himself and surely he will want to go out on a high and leave on the best of terms, for me its the timing and although I see his performances waining I would like him to see out his contract which expires at the end of next season.
