Having given it more thought I would be delighted for one of Van Gaal, Hiddink or O'Neil to come in and get the job.

All play attacking football with wingers, something I think is ideally suited to the English league. Van Gaal and Hiddink are old masters tactically, but I think O'Neil is young and hungry for success.

O'Neil also does the old one year rolling contract, meaning he would be ideal to have in and then get rid if new owners came in and wanted a change. He's also well known for being able to motivate extremely well.

I can't see why people would be so against seeing O'Neil at the helm.
    Forwards.......

For a start, we don't have pacey wingers or the money to buy them.

Oh wait we have Babel. ....

As i said, we haven't got any decent pacey wingers.

People obviously fail to see that O'Neil is man who is more focussed on results than entertaining the masses. I'm not against that personally. He played within his means and what was not daft enough to think that playing entertaining football with poor teams will work out.

Whenever I see an O'Neil team a see a set of players that work their nuts off for the manager. Had we been backed by a billionaire I would be setting my sights a little higher, but his contract situation and managerial qualities really appeal to me atm.

For me - I would love (as I do not want the perfect image of the King destroyed):

Pellegrini - due to his experience at highest level
Nicol - due to his LFC-background and experience in the MLS
This Oliveira-guy - due to his knowledge, experience and culture of footy
                M. Olsen (DK-international) - due to his ability to use players for his style - not necessarily the most expensive, but those who balances his team - and as former Ajax, Koln leader also with experience
M.Laudrup - for what he did at Getafe two years ago - to keep both the spanish and the international group at Melwood happy - and to make him come now, as he didn't turn up in 1984.
Roy Hodgson - as he has shown his ability to make a low budget team play in a very well-gelled way. I am though not sure he could make it happen for a full season (why he was good in the cup-competitions).

Under normal circumstances I would trash everyone of them and say that Liverpool should be seeking someone who has been there and done it. The ones you mention are Managers who show promise and are clearly on their way up, or ones who have failed in similar jobs and are on their way down.

Liverpool need someone in the middle, someone at the top of their game. Someone who is considered one of the best in their profession.

Of course though, thses are not normal circumstances........

I fail to see the relevance of any 'experience' managers may have acquired in the MLS or leagues of similar ilk.

The level bears no resemblence to that of the english top flight.

well - fergiscum only had a good run with Aberdeen, when he came to Scum - had gone far in European cup (like Hodgson or Laudrup). He even had several years of accepted rebuilding of the team before he hit the stong line, that made them win everything in the 90'ths.

Who - and how he will succeed WILL be a gamble, which the leaders of this club have to take responsibility for. They better do it good, but fast - as there will be a lot of work to do when a new man is installed.

Ferguson had done very well in the Scottich league, breaking up the monopoly of Celtic and Rangers and also winning a European trophy.

Plus the Scottish league was much stronger back then.

I like his brand of football, thought he did a good job both at Real Madrid and Villarreal. Pellegrini FTW
His experience in dealing with a backstabbing disfunctional board and highly demanding fans will be useful in managing LFC.

Compared to Real Madrid LFC would be a walk in the park for him.

Not too sure. At least Madrid back their managers with cash.
