If its going to be short-term then for me it has to be Dalglish and Thommo. We need stability and respected Reds who have the experience and have done the job

Then once we have new owners we can work on getting a long-term appointment

I'm in quite a state, although this is my shortlist of realistic targets; there is a trend in a lot of these managers although, I have a gravitation against Madrid, not towards them just looking at them in terms of decent managers whom are available.

Juande Ramos - Knows the league now, quality coach which can get a lot out of a squad. Yes, he was terrible at Spurs but at one stage he had them playing good football, it was a pretty wank squad and he couldn't realy speak English, now he can and he's proved with his short stint at Madrid that he can do things. He learned his lesson ****ing up Spurs, now he could help us progress.

Bernd Schuster - Tactically superb, I didn't think he'd be a good coach at first but at Getafe he did really well, then he showed he could take it onto the bigger stage with Madrid. He had a meltdown when he was sacked by madrid but he's a good manager with a great footballing pedigree, also he's an English speaker.

Manuel Pellegrini - Obvious choice, quality man manager, good disciplinarian and an English speaker. Wouldn't be afraid to put Gerrard on his place.

Ernesto Valverde - For me, probably the best Spanish coach, other than Rafa. He gets his teams playing quality possession football and has won trophy's in Greece. He did **** up at Villarreal at the start of this season which does put a huge question mark over his head. Although the way he had Athletic Bilbao and Espanyol playing a testiment to him. I definitely think he'd be a shrewed acquisition.

Then there's a few young up and comers or short term solutions which could be given a go, but I think that there should be stability rather than a hit or miss which could reall throw the club into a great deal of danger. These would be my preferred choices, but there are a few other names which I'd be indifferent on. If however we hire Martin ****ing O'Neil I won't be a happy chappy.

        Uncle Harry now linked.

Apparently he's unhappy with Daniel Levy and could be tempted to LFC.

I'd be surprised but over the ****ing moon is Harry Redknapp is our manager next season.

We need a British manager really if we want to win the league with this squad. Foreign coaches who come in will take time to get to know the premier league and will want their own players.
          Forwards.......

The problem with that is, I don't think that there are any British managers good enough to do that. I really can't see Harry Redknapp, Steve McLaren, Alex McLeish or Martin O'Neill coming into Liverpool and winning the league within 2 seasons, if backed in the market or not. I actually imagine Liverpool declining under them. I just had a look at the list of British managers in the league and I don't consider any of them upto it, with the exlusion of perhaps Roy Hodgeson, although that'd be a very risky deal for me. But I do take comfort from the fact that he has won many leagues around Europe and has had success in a big league, with a big club at Inter.

I really hate Harry Redknapp. I'm not sure we need any more experts in ruining a clubs finances involved either.

We could have a dream team of Harry and Jamie. It would be triffic.

I don't think that's true, and whoever comes in will want to bring his own players in.

Liverpool FC - the contenders for the Managerial role

THE departure of Rafael Benitez from Liverpool yesterday has immediately given way to speculation over who will succeed the Spaniard in the Anfield hotseat.

Here, The Liverpool Daily Post takes a look at some of the leading contenders for one of the most coveted jobs in world football.

                                KENNY DALGLISH

Won three league titles, two FA Cups and a League Cup in his spell in charge at Anfield and is widely revered among supporters. Has been out of management since leaving Celtic in 2000 and is one of the men attempting to find a successor to Benitez.

                                ROY HODGSON

The Fulham manager’s stock has risen sharply since guiding the unfancied Cottagers to the final of the Europa League last season. A seventh-placed finish in the 2008-09 Premier League campaign also represented uncharted territory. Hodgson would bring an avuncular and steadying presence to the Anfield hotseat, but, at 62 years of age, time is perhaps not on his side.

                                MARTIN O’NEILL

The Northern Irishman has long been touted as a possible Liverpool manager and is one of the front-runners to finally make that a reality. O’Neill is fresh from a campaign in which Aston Villa finished sixth in the Premier League and reached the Carling Cup final and FA Cup semi-finals, but a move to Merseyside might not be straightforward with Villa owner Randy Lerner recently issuing a hands-off warning to the Anfield club.

                                MARK HUGHES

Out of work since being dismissed by Manchester City in December. The former Wales boss is often criticised for a perceived lack of tactical nous but City’s form did not improve significantly under his replacement, Roberto Mancini. May not be a popular choice due to his links to Manchester United.

                                GUUS HIDDINK

Due to take up the post of Turkey’s national coach in August but could perhaps seek to reach an agreement with the Turks to take up this post instead.

The Dutchman is vastly experienced at club and international level.
