Football formations and systems do change over time, but more so over the past 15 years in the Premier League, the training methods and the whole culture of buliding a stroing team bond and actuually being a footballer has changed.

Back in the early 90's and before, many a team manager would take the players out boozing to improve team spirit. That would be totally unheard of today. Who could imagine the likes of Yossi, Torres and Mascherano out on the lash to get a bit of team bonding?

The influx of foreign players and foreign coaches has seen a dramatic change and an increasingly difficult environment to get a proper team bond going. Creating a great team spirit can be just as important as getting the right tactics.

If Dalglish has moved with the times then I can think of no better man to lead Liverpool. But It is impossible to know if he has moved on. If he went back to his training methods and team bonding sessions of the 80's and 90's it would be a huge disaster waiting to happen.
    Forwards.......

Suppose he's been part of the academy, which has presumably adopted the new fangled approach.

He's a figure head and is used to attract players. I seriously doubt he has any input on the coaching and training.

It does sound as though people think he might have been cryogenicaly frozen since 1992.

I seriously wonder if Dalglish thinks it's worth it. He has a cushy little number at the moment. He is a legend and is in a job where he will get little stress.

Despite this, I think if Dalglish came in he would be one of the only managers who came in who would get the full backing of the fans and would be given the patience needed. If Kenny came in and said the best we can hope for is 4th, we would accpet this, as we all believe him to have the clubs best intentions at heart.

We all know he would not just be here for a big pay day, he is also a big name who could attract players and sell them the idea of Liverpool FC being a top club again.

I'd be delighted if he took the job on.

seems to me some people on here know alot more about how much the king knows about football 'the business he has been in all his life' than I.

If he was asked and if he wanted I am in no doubt he would do more than a good job.

Atleast we all agree he's a legend
                  RIP IRWT post/rant, best ever

Seems a lot of people on here seem to know a lot more than Kenny D knows!

He's been out of the game too long?
WTF do they know, even though they throw their armchair opinion on the boards every day? He's forgotten more about football than they will ever know!
Why did Rafa pull in him in the first place?

I am not saying he is the only choice but to say he's to old and been away too long is ****ing nonsense...

I don't care who we have, it will end up the same again.

Dalglish didn't do too well at Newcastle and Celtic. He's been brought in as a figurehead which is a totally different thing as being a manager.

To be an 'ambassador'. That's not like managing the team no?

The thing is, it gets on my nerves when people start brandishing names from our past as if they'd be able to change things just because they have been legends for us. It's a totally different proposition now and reading the likes of Grobbelaar and Redknapp saying such things make me cringe.
