And it's not just about 'platitudes in the press'. In a way they didn't need to say anything because they said it all with their 'performances'. Torres less so, because his goals to games ratio was still pretty ace but his level was unquestionably down on before. Gerrard patently stopped playing for the manager. Don't you think Gerrard, Torres and possibly a couple of others (I'm thinking Carra, Riera...) gave up on him last season? And are obviously happy to see him go? To lose faith in a man and his methods, a matter of just months after a time when all was so rosy, is a bit ****ty.
If you're right and those players did give up on Rafa, then the question should surely be why? What has happened that we aren't privy to?

You're taking the side of one man over our captain, our vice captain, our best player and a left sided midfielder.

I also disagree that Rafa made Gerrard a better player. He may of scored more but thats because he's changed Gerrards position. I actually think he is a less effective player than he was 10 years ago. He doesn't dictate games or influence them enough because he's played far too advanced. Great when the goals are flowing but ****ing useless when they're not. I hate the player Gerrard has become. A kind of Dalglish, Beardo, Aimar want to be. Get him back in the middle breaking legs.

He certainly was restricted by budgets but he got loads of money over the time of his managership and too often spent it on ****e, often shipping out players who were better than the ones he brought in.
I think that is a massive oversimplification of the situation (and it wasn't just Alonso, it was Arbeloa too).
Other teams spent a lot and closed the gap on us.
Our defence started the season terribly, that did a lot of damage.
      We had massive injury problems.
      We couldn't afford squad players
      Which crazy selections?
Buckets of money is a nonsense spouted by the media, he averaged £6m to spend per transfer window, that is very low.
Which players did he willing ship out to replace them with poorer players?

Sorry but I think you have bought the Sky Sports line here.

        Lads,

IMO (for what it's worth) - if Woy is appointed on Thursday - he will need our support, as Tatterdemalion says earlier, we're not his 1st choice and he's not ours.

But we need to draw a line under this negative ****e - we're all LFC through and through, it's a new season, I think we need to look forward, and not back.

Hopefully the Yanks will be away soon, and we can all get on with looking forward.

I say, give the man a chance.

If it happens, welcome to L4 Roy....

Matt you liked Rafa, as did many others and you feel cheated, robbed and angry. I understand this. Many others didn't feel this way. He's gone and good luck to the bloke in the future. Its time to open a new chapter. It looks like we've got an experienced manager coming that may be less fashionable than is generally expected in this country but noneless its a fresh start for everyone. All fans should be pulling together and giving him even more support than Rafa (if possible) because if as many people expect we have limited funds and top players departing he'll certainly require the backing, especially through the hard times.

I think its going to be a better season than many predict. I'm looking forward to the season. Come back to me in February if we're bottom half.

                    Here, here.

It would just be nice if the Rafa-haters could move on as well rather than continuing to snipe.

I don't think anyone really hates him, stop being a drama queen.

You know what I mean though?

There's been more than enough discussion of Rafa over the past few weeks and months. I just don't think there's any need to continue raking over Rafa's failings.

Yes. I do know what you mean.

Anything negative as been pretty much exclusively respectful so you're being a drama queen and inventing hatred which doesn't exist because you want to force a subject change.

Would would people think about the King coming in as a No2 to Hodgson?

Do yo think that would help him and the team at all, might help to bond the players and there would plenty of experience there.
Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."

Would love to see him come in as No. 2. Get his feet wet again and if things don't work with Hodgson he can step-up.

Problem is I doubt Kenny would take it as he's put his hand in for no. 1, and I doubt Hodgson would take it as it would feel too much like a safety net.
