I know what you mean but I don't agree. We could easily have a worse manager. Finding one who could do better and would want to come to us is, in my opinion, highly unlikely..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

By keeping Rafa we "know" we have little chance of winning the league. With the likes of Torres, Alonso, Benny and Gerrard all fit and firing he couldn't do it. Now with limited budgets and injuries we're playing worse than Wolves.
With Rafa we know exactly what we have, we'd be standing still (which is equal to going backwards if you believe what they say in football).
With a new manager it would be a gamble. For me, its now time to go all or nothing. One tit for another.

The grass is always greener on the other side in bad times.

Our squad wasn't as good as scum's or chavs. The insane decisions scum got from the refs sealed it anyway.3rd place. Worst champions ever.

hiddink.
also the return of the king, maybe.
rafa has done self damage in the transfer market and in choosing the first 11.
eg. aquiliani when he could have opted for sneijder, the inter player of the season, didn't he ever thought of sneijder's talent and flexibility? where are the famous scouts? or was it his sole decision?
the first 11 are controversial, he plays kuyt as right winger when he can chose Babel (who plays 2 good games and then against all logic he plays only 5 mins. in the next game....)
We have had too much of this farce. I am fed up. we are fed up. Many players are fed up including Gerrard and Torres)

I guess after reading all of this - my brain now hurts !
The simple fact of the matter is there anyone out there better than the manager we've got and is Rafa getting the best out of our current squad?
Looking at the list of who's available or potentially available it's quite slim pickings and you'd have to question who is going to want to come in and take over.
On the other hand this has been a shocking season and it does appear Rafa has run out of ideas and is clearly not getting the best out of the team as well as the fact we're playing football similar to Villa of the early 2000's (not pretty and ****ing boring!)
It's a tough choice what with all the financial issues at the club and huge resentment of dumb and dumber in charge of the club; whoever is managing the football team (this is the most important part of the club!) is going to have a ****ing tough job.
I actually believe Rafa needs to be replaced for next season, for who well thats the million $ question but either way if he stays on, as fans we need to get behind the team, the manager and remember YNWA!

i am so split on this like I never have been before. My brain says that rafa's time is over and as a club we need a new change of direction.
My heart says that rafa has been treated like **** by the owners and that he just hasnt had the backing to do this properly.
If you look at rafa in the press conferences his body language doesnt look good, he looks tired and worn out - physically and mentally drained.
Its not fair to the fans and its not fair to rafa and we need something to change on the ownership front.[B]Sir Isaac Newton knew the universal law of karma - any action has its equal and opposite reaction.[B]

Tellingly, he also refused to guarantee he would be in charge at Liverpool after the summer.
After Thursday's humbling Europa Cup defeat, Benitez was asked if he was still certain of a Champions League spot. He replied: "I think I will have to guarantee now that we will work as hard as we did against Lille."
Asked if he was sure he'd still be Liverpool's manager next season, his response was: "I am sure that we will try to win against Portsmouth and after against Lille."

It's almost certainly nothing without a major increase in transfer budget since better managers are very unlikely to come here. I'm entirely unconvinced the odds are good enough.Originally posted by BigChief View PostBy keeping Rafa we "know" we have little chance of winning the league. I think quite clearly the players in close season where thinking that if we strengthen a little we'd be in with a real chance, but unfortunately the recession meant that H&G had to find money to pay down debts rather than provide financing for the team. It seems to me as though the Johnson deal was already done before this was known, and that rafa had a striker lined up to partner Torres, and possibly another attacking player.Originally posted by Lecter View PostI personally think it is key to where we are today
I still think back to the budget fiasco in the summer.
Remember Rafa was talking at one point of having the Keane money plus sales, plus an additional £20 million to spend
In reality hes seen none of that as I believe we have made a profit on this seasons transfers
And so instead of strengthening, we weakend the team selling Alonso and didn't get another striker. I suppose there might be a bit more to it, but I can imagine that someone like Gerrard just reacted with resignation.
Again, unfortunately, if we don't find more financing this year the squad will be weakened again in the summer and I would guess the players know this as well, which is doubtless contributing to our poor form.
Only problem is that the only investors interested appear to be proper sharks.Really?
