its probably no coincidence that a lack of additional investment in the squad (ie adding to what we already have) has hurt us big time when teams around us like spurs, villa and man city have spent vast sums on improving their squads.

Our squad isnt as strong as the likes of villa and spurs let alone city but I think we have a few trump cards that the others dont.

We have torres, gerrard, masher and reina who are all world class players whereas the others dont have these sorts of stellar performers. They have very good players in all departments unlike ourselves who surround the our best players with players that are below par.

Theres no getting away from the fact that probably five or six of our outfield players are average at best.

The other teams dont have the polarisation of talent that we have in our squad.

I think you'll find that a very large part of the Liverpool support want a change away from Rafa because they are passionate about the club and feel we can do better
Who do you feel could do better

      Bearing in mind the following:-

They will have to break even in the transfer market at the very least and with Rafas pay off will likely have to show a profit

They will in all likelihood have to accept a lower salary than Benitez (so that rules out a lot of the genuine candidates imo)

The bigger picture imo isnt whether Benitez is doing well enough at this moment, its finding someone who can work under the same conditions (or with less funds) for less wages and do a better job

That to me is going to be difficult

is it any coincidence that every succesful and i mena every succesful club has had stability and backiing the boardroom?

        Liverpool for many years
Scum, and thats starting to look dodgy.......and they are not what they where
        Chelsea .......russia's millions
City.......good knows over next few years.
        Blackburn.......under Jack Walker.

Leeds & Newcastle both have bene on the verge of being succesful and there off the field activities brought them crushing down.

I imagine behind the scenes at Anfield is a very weird place at the moment. NO stability, no plan.......no chance

Come on, you seriously think that Villa and Spurs have better squads than us?

We have as mentioned, Torres, Gerrard, Mascher, Reina, Johnson and then our squad players consist of the likes of Benny, Agger, Skrtel, Johnson, Aqualani, Carra, Babel, Kuyt, Aurelio...

These may not be the greatest players, but they're as good pound for pound as any squad player at those clubs and they don't play in the same team as the likes of our top 5 players.

You're saying that 4 or 5 of our players are average at best, so are you implying that Villa and Spurs have top quality in every positon?
The fact is that we're dramatically underachieving this season.

Utd have had their fair share of ownership dramas along the years. Chelsea won the league pretty soon after new owners and staff came in. Arsenal have had a bit up to recently also. Not sure what you mean by stability.

This to me is the bigger picture

I do wonder how many other managers would have put up with the **** Rafa has from the current owners

Things like promising budgets but not delivering, things like drawing up budgets and then changing the goal at the last minute

Selling a ÂŁ16 million player last January and seeing none of the money back

Selling ÂŁ5-8 million worth of players this January and only being allowed to sign somebody on loan

As I have said elsewhere Tom Hicks' assertion that next summers transfer window would be "big" will no doubt mean 2 bosman signings instead of one

The club is broken and ****ed. We have no direction and ambition at the top and that is filtering right the way down to the staff, players & fans

The managers and players sole purpose now is debt management, the assertion that Liverpool FC only exists to win trophies has been thrown out of the window alongwith many of the other great principles we had

That isnt the fault of the manager thats the fault of the owners imo

Chelsea won the league because they spent **** loads of dosh

Arsenal have had to be careful with their finances but they probably have the finest talent spotter in the world as their manager

United well their financial problems appear to be coming home to roost just like ours

The ownership dramas could probably be coped with if you are successful, making a profit and not having to scrape every penny together to keep out the bailiffs

i do agree with you there.

IF and it is a big IF rafa walks in the summer and goes to Juve/Madrid i expect some very shocking stories about how bad it really is.

I actually reckon Spurs have a better squad than we have

Better 1st 11 on paper NO

Same with City they have more quality in depth but dont compare to our best 11 (again on paper)

The rest of my post says that we suffer from having either very good players or very poor players. There isnt a lot in between whereas the likes of villa have a lot of players who are all of a consistent level of ability. They dont have passengers like lucas, insua, kuyt, rodriguez and rieira.

Of those players I mentioned 4 started the last game and would probably start most games and none of them would get into the teams of villa, spurs let alone city.

Thats the problem - they're either very good or very ****.

I fully expect real madrid to come in for benitez and i expect him to go this time.

Not a chance. Rafa is an EXTREMELY stubborn man and I think he will stay until he IS sacked. If it's true that we can't afford to sack him, he'll know this and will exploit it to the fullest.

If we don't get 4th and Rafa walks.

I want Steve Nicol or John Aldridge. Heart ruling head most probably, but I honestly can't see relegation with whoever we had at the helm. On that basis I'd like a change to see if someone else could get more out of the same squad than Rafa. I accept they'd be tactically less masterful than Rafa but they may just let the team cut loose occasionally and play from the cuff. I think too many coaches these days over complicate a very simple game. Look at cuntface at Utd, whenever he trys to be clever and out fox opponents and Utd play at a slow pace they look beatable, when he says go for it they have ripped teams to shreds over the years. More often than not his teams are set out to win first and foremost.

If we're going struggle to compete lets struggle playing with smiles on our faces.

I'd like the next manager to be British and preferrably have a past link with us. Thats my opinion. I'm sure there are many flaws in this argument but think the heart should rule more often.

                              so we also have........
