I agree about seeing someone's true colours when the chips are down. Anyone can be great when things are going well. Ferguson and Drogba are two good examples, when they're winning and it's hunky dory, they're all friendly, polite and butter wouldnt melt. But we all know how they change when they lose.

Apart from Torres, Mascherano, Alonso, Reina, Carragher in his prime, Hyppia and possibly Agger there hasn't been much.

Hmmm, agree with the Agger comment. But he can't stay fit, can he ? Pretty sure he'll be injury prone his entire career.

Re Mascherano....it's tricky. On his day, in the right circumstances and when he fancies it, he IS world class. But a lot the time he looks quite average.

Dunno. I'd say he's a shade under.

mascher could be absolutely world class if he could play a bit more football. sort his long passing and contribute to the goals, and there would be no doubt. couldn't believe he actually scored the other week.

best in the world at the thing he does best, but lacking in his all around game.

if mascher could do that on anything like a regular basis, he would be tops. i'm not necessarily saying he isn't world class, but for a central midfielder, his skills at going forward aren't the best. messi is not a complete player either, but he does everything he needs to do in his position. mascher could do more if he's going to play where he does. not that i think he's in any way a bad player.

that being said, and i've said this before, and maybe will get some more flack for it, but if i were in charge, mascher would only play against the very best oposition, when we're trying to shut up shop and when our midfield was getting kicked up in the air.

nope i can completely understanding yr reason and i can see your reasoning.....as messi in his postion is peerless. Whereas Masher is fantastic at waht he does but then you have the likes of essien who can do all that and more
