    Pezzer, you're ignoring my question...

If i dont think a manager is right to take us forward, why would i want him to stay?

If i think he cant take us forward, why wouldnt i want someone who i think could?

Should i want to keep a manager who i think cant take us forward? Or should i want the club to succeed?

simply put, we should have kicked on after last season. to finish second ( which also had a lot to do with other teams not performing to their best ) we should not now be scrapping for a top 6 finish. it's not unreasonable to be pissed with rafa and his stubbornness in refusing to make changes.

For me I really hope benitez stays and finishes the job we know he can do and bring us the pl, would he finally earn your faith in him then? Or if 3months after that we have a mediocre spell will u draw your daggers again?

for many a year now i've had no confidence that rafa can win us the league. even last year when we were 10 points clear of united, a small part of me always thought we would **** it up.

If the worst happens and maureen did take over after you get your wish and benitez leaves, GOD HELP HIM if he looses a game starting with Lucas and kuyt, normal service from you will be resumed.

i dont understand describing maureen taking over as "the worst". to me and i'll bet a majority of lfc fans, that would be a major plus and one hell of a boost. i'll also lay a bet that if he did start with lucas and kyut and lost a game or even two on the trot maureen would make changes......rafa, as we have seen, does not.

There are 4 throphies every season, arguably 3 worth winning with the PL and CL top 2, seeing as we haven't won the league in 20 years how is finishing top 4 and having cup success a 'bad season' as you suggest??

People need to get a grip in my opinion and live in the present nor the past, currently, Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal, Man City and arguably (on money spent in the last 2 or 3 transfer windows) Spurs and Villa have a better chance of winning the league than us
i dont think we have a divine right to win it, but then i do have a right to say if we dont its a bad season. Winning a cup in a season and top 4 is a decent season so maybe that was a bit harsh to call it a bad season.

But the fact that we have only ever competed for the title once since rafa has been here and lets face it that was after being nearly written off last year anyway has started me questioning his methods.

i dont think you can just bring the last 2/3 windows and not include the lasy 5 seasons into the equation when talking about title challengers as you would look at scum and think there + cash flow would be amazing!

Spurs and villa have zero chance of the premiership they have no world class talent and best they could ever hopr for was top 4, We have a genuine world class spine and therefore i believe that this team is good enough to battle for the premmiership ( injuries permitting of course)

What i do have a divine right for as a liverpool fan is to question whether the man at the top is the right man and i honestly am not sure he is

I just believe his lack of man management skills, his inflexinility and stubborness to change during games and his defensive mentality against the inferior teams of the league will never lead us to the holy grail.

While another man may not either......it might be better to watch

not his backing or the finanical power of the club to bring in the players he wants - alvez, villa, simao, silva, vidic, etc etc...

same point above. how often did he get his first choice?

Spurs and villa have zero chance of the premiership they have no world class talent and best they could ever hopr for was top 4, We have a genuine world class spine and therefore i believe that this team is good enough to battle for the premmiership ( injuries permitting of course)

Carra still world class? he hasnt been this season. Gerrard? again not this season. Torres? through injury we've had about 3 world class games from him. Agger? again through injury we've had about 5 world class performances. johnson started well but again, 5 top level performances. Reina has been our only consistent world class performer this season.

so given that we've had torres, gerrard, reina and carra (presumed spine) in the team for the last 3 seasons, writing off this season as a disaster based on the above points, 3rd and 2nd respectively and latter stages of the CL is punching above our weight and for which rafa - and his methods/stubbornness - deserve great credit.

What i do have a divine right for as a liverpool fan is to question whether the man at the top is the right man and i honestly am not sure he is

No reds fan this season hasnt questioned this. But we have to be fair and balanced when assessing the circumstances. Managing our club this season has been a real poisoned chalice. injuries and ownership are a complete and utter disaster.
I just believe his lack of man management skills, his inflexinility and stubborness to change during games and his defensive mentality against the inferior teams of the league will never lead us to the holy grail.

We've always finished seasons strongly. These points may have some affect but frankly, financial backing to get top targets is far more important. thats what we're up against for the title isnt it. other teams who can sign who they want.

While another man may not either......it might be better to watch

            fair enough

Interesting aside in the BBC's Riera article:
"Former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler, signed by Benitez for a second spell at the Anfield club in 2006, says it may be time for a change of manager.

Fowler, who recently returned from a season in the Australian A-League, told BBC Radio 5 live: "Rafa in his first year won the Champions League but they have not really won too much since then.

"For the sake of Liverpool fans I want them to do as well as they can and if that means getting a new manager then so be it."

Although Riera is clearly disgruntled as he's on the bench and his place in the Spanish squad is looking less and less likely.

It really has worried me that a player at our club has come out and publicly slated our manager - I can't for the life of me remember anyone in years gone by whilst still at the club had a pop at the manager in such fashion.

Worrying times and it does really raise the question "has Rafa lost the dressing room" I hope he hasn't as he'll be here until the end of the season come what may, if he has lost it though we've no chance of 4th.

It's weird because you'll get a performance like Wigan away (to name one of many) which suggest the players have no more faith in him, and cant be arsed anymore. But then, they come out at home to Pompey and blow them away. Monday night's performance was up there with those of spring 2009.

That display flies in the face of the notion that rafa's lost the dressing room.

There's literally no consistency in anything we do

Well I hope young Albert is just throwing his toys around because he's not getting a game.

IMO we need a change at the helm for next season but until then all the boys need to be giving 150% to Rafa until the end of the season and us as fans should be doing the same (hard sometimes with some of the ****e we've played this year!)

How anyone with real ambition wants Rafa to stay on is beyond me. Close second last year??? We threw the title away. He has had six bloody years and in that six years the starting 11 as an effective team are no better than the team he inherited.

Champions league? Fantastic that we won that. BUT in that situation again 3 nil down at half time, if that game was played again a million times from halftime we would not have won, remember rafa was forced into a tactical change because of an injury to Didi.

What else have we won in the six years? the FA cup and sweet **** all. Not good enough for liverpool FC.

Signings, Without doubt Torres has been his most successful signing, but even rafa himself will tell you that he thought it was a mojor gamble spending 20m on him at the time. His signings in the 10m bracket have been shocking to say the least, Revolving door transfer policy does not work.

His man management? Well thats there (or not) for all to see. His treatment of players who perform is quite hard to fathom.

Tactics? to defensive to ever win the league imo, The game against portsmouth was about the third time in six years iv seen rafa send out an attacking team, look what happened, we hammered them.
But for me all this is too little too late, and for the reasons above i would like to see Rafa leave in the summer. What I want is Liverpool to win league and european titles, Not doddle between fourth and second and there is one man who I think can bring that to Liverpool FC, allbeit he wont stay for longer than four or five years but he can bring us back to where we belong, the top of the league, Thats Jose.
