we need jose in but my worry now is that with no CL next year and no big spending sugar daddy on the horizon we will pretty soon be lost to mid table ( 6th-10th ) positions......therego bang goes our chance of getting him in.

rafa must go of that i am in no doubt, but the big prob is if we cant get jose then who else out there is a big enough draw as manager to help us sign the big names?

With Jose just remember that the guy has an ego the size of a small planet!

I would love him to come in and from his perspective if he came into somewhere he might perceive as a sinking ship, turning it around and bringing us our first title in far too ****ing long whilst also getting one over on Rafa by actually doing it.

I think that sort of possibility for him might well be quite appealing!

I'll just point out I have nothing against Rafa but I kind of feel he's taken us as far as he can.

            I agree.........
i do think that Mourinho would fancy taking us on even without huge cash. Lets face it MAnchester United and Liverpool are the 2 clubs that have worldwide appeal in the premiership so he has proved that at Porto, Chelsea and Inter that with money he can be succesful......

but turning Liverpool into premiership champions would defo appeal to his ego.

If he came, he'd give the ownership situation far more of a spotlight than SOS could dream of. He wouldn't hol back from a fight with his bosses if he thought it appropriate. A good or a bad thing, I don't know

Rafa had loads of options in the summer. After selling some players, he had £40M to spend. At that point he knew that Torres was the only main striker he had available and he made the decision to take a risk in buying Johnson and Aquilani.

He didn't have to do it, it wasn't forced upon him and it's wrong to suggest that it was due to the situation rather than by poor decisions.

And that's totally ignoring the Robbie Keane thing as well.
I think to some extent he did have to, we had to find a replacement for Alonso and we had to sign a first choice right back, yes perhaps we could have found cheaper alternatives but people have critisised Rafa on here for signing too many squad players, he signed two players that should have strenthened the first team. The portsmouth situation means if we'd looked elsewhere we'd have probably only had £30m to spend, If we'd spent ~£10m of that on a striker as backup for Torres, and Torres had stayed fit, people would have been complaining about us wasting money on squad players again.

I really think Rafa was in a no win situation given the budget he had, I also am fairly confident that some of our transfer budget disappeared late in the summer, which affected what we were trying to do, had we known what our budget was all summer I think things may have turned out differently
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Jose Mourinho is a natural born winner and would make Liverpool champions instantly.

Roy Hodgson would install an steely Britishness about the players and would bring the best out of some of the underachievers playing a simple brand of football.

Felix Magath would whip the boys into shape, it would be so eye opening for us fans.

Manuel Pelligrini should he face the axe at Real Madrid would bring an enterprising brand of football to Anfield

One Manc I know does NOT like the idea of Jose becoming our manager. I think that speaks volumes.

90% of mancs are praying that rafa stays and ****ting it that Jose might come.

As you say, it speaks volumes. When our bitterest rivals want our manager to stay more than some of us do, that tells a story.

Craig, I find it odd that you tend to jump on people for unrealistic player signings but when it comes to highly unlikely managerial signings you are bang on it.

I couldn't care less what [insert percentage here] of Manc fans think to be honest.

I'm not saying you should care, and nor was i asking you to care - but the feelings arent at random.

As for realistic player signings - players require a transfer fee, Mourinho can apparently leave Inter whenever he wants. The question of what he'd want to join us, is something we can only speculate on, so we've all got our views.

i wasnt aware that i'd 'jumped on' anyone over player signings.
