The thing about backing rafa, is a fair point but what i would also say, is that whilst we had a zero NET budget this season, he was obviously allowed to spend what he generated - and he thought £20m for Aquilani was a good deal.So i'm a little dubious about the notion of 'back him' with more cash.

His transfer record is about 50/50, for me. Previously it was much better, but a couple of recent turkeys, one irish and one italian, have balanced it out a lot more.

That's nonsense mate. Rich (i think it was) has posted the breakdown of the fee on here countless times, and IIRC by June, we'll have paid €15m for him.

If you think Roma would sell him for only £5m guaranteed, then that's cloud cuckoo land and i'd happily buy a mansion there for £2.50.

* €300k for every year Liverpool qualify for the CL from 2010/11 to 2014/15.

* €250k every time the player reaches 35 appearancs; 70 appearances; 105 appeances and then 140 appearances.

* €1m the first time Liverpool either wins the Premier League or Champions League by 30 June 2014.

* 5% of any future transfer fee paid to Roma.

It's not even about flair or no flair - it's more about one thing that rafa does say a lot, but doesnt seem to do - 'only thinking about winning'.
