you're too soon to write AA off imo.

His abilities are that of a 20mill player. He just needs to be fit enough. so thats rafas the gamble that will determine if he's a success or not.

Nobody knows yet whether Aquilani has been a good or bad investment, he's in his first season and hasn't played much, so it's not a certainty he'll fail yet, and could prove to be worth the money....we'll see.

Have we got enough DMs to play his preferred formation?

That was an Italian cup, 2nd leg tie and they were 1-0 up from the 1st leg.

They also won the 2nd leg 1-0.

Remind me, how did we do in our domestic cups?

Re Aquilani - yes it's early to make a definitive judgement and he needs more time. But based on what's happened thus far, he looks more a failure than a success.

agree. but is that due to fitness or talent? I would only agree based on the former.

he could be an upgrade on alonso or he could be a new kewell. defo looks more like the latter but only time will tell wont it.

Not sure whether it's still appropriate to post in line with the original topic. My answer is Rafa supported by a board that is no longer dysfunctional, I think he can do a good job.

Well you can't exclude having to write off a full season due to an existing injury as part of the 'good investment' assessment. He's got a lot of catching up to do to justify the fee. Hope he can of course but he'll have to be some player.

I'd be surprised if any takeover (no matter how quickly it does or doesnt happen) would lead to instant changes in the football management team

That is just too much change to happen in one go

Just cast your eye over other Premier League sides than have been the subject of takeovers, the vast bulk of them the owners have come in an allowed their manager sometime before they (the owners) have decided whether they are heading in the direction they want

I cant see us doing that

That would be too much upheaval imo

Its either (takeover) or (new manager) imo

I know this one, was it by not playing 5-4-1 with 4 holding midfielders?
