But it takes some balls to where a tie like that, particularly when you are in fact a manager. And he has more that one of them, well, you can only respect his ironic self deprecation.

So whoever we get will be a step down or three. Look who's left:
      • A vain, ageing Swedish lothario with the tactical nous of a squashed pea.
      • An ex-stalwart of both Manchester United and Chelsea who has zero experience of managing a title-chasing and CL-contending club and who failed at his previous job despite spending £700billion (people can call that childish of me if they like but then I really don't give a f*ck).
      • An old chap who seems a nice bloke and who had an excellent season by getting to mid-table and losing the UEFA Cup but failed to get his side to win matches away from home.
      • A legendary former player and manager who hasn't managed a club for a decade.
      • A buffoon with an abysmal record in European competition and who gets his team to play mind-numbingly boring football and who seems to have confused tactical astuteness with being a jack-in-the-box on the touchline.

      Like I said, it's a f*cking nightmare.

The jack in a box got to a European Final with Celtic, no?
      Oh I don't know.

Seems everyone is so angry and desperate for the title only a manager with 12 titles on the hop and 15 world cups will do - that is not going to happen as there are none out there.
So then everyone gets suicidal FFS!

Stop winding yourselves up with so much speculation based on the ****ing rags and web reports - 90% or more of which are bollocks just to stir you all up to read / buy more of the **** in the first place.

Go drink beer (lots) get laid and watch England get flushed in the WC, coz very little is going to happen until the transfer window that is the world cup is done with.

I am curious to know, as I am about Dalglish and even Paisley

It seems to me you want a winner that has already won ten league titles and 18 CL's
It was a different game back then There wasn't the same demand for instant success. When Shankly came in he came from Huddersfield who like us were in the old 2nd division, so your claim he came from a lower league club is misleading because we weren't in the top flight then either.

Even the appointment of Paisley there wasn't huge demand for instant sucess, this created the bootroom staff and created the tradition of promoting from within.

Liverpool legend Ian St John is calling on the Anfield board to appoint a British manager.
The ex-Scotland international believes it is time for the Reds to look closer to home after six-year spells for Gerard Houllier and Rafa Benitez.
St John told BBC Radio Merseyside: "Personally I hope we get a British manager. We've had over 10 years of foreign managers.
"Take away the night in Istanbul and the whole club seems to have changed."
St John, 71, was signed by legendary Liverpool manager Bill Shankly in 1961.

                        If British, who?

Redknapp is a joke. MoN is unpopular. Hughes is unproven. Hodgson is not up to it. Allardyce is fat. Curbishley is, well Curbishley. Dave Bassett?
                        Oh I don't know.

I don't think everyone is desperate for an incredibly successful manager, but people want someone with a proven track record of competing at the top level (where we want to be) and someone with experience of dealing with a big club and big players as, these IMO have different demands and apply different pressures than managing a small club or a team in midtable.
