But if you take too big a gamble, you lose your house & wife or your kneecaps.

I really don't know how you got that job as a counsellor for Gamblers Anonymous.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

but he's not too big a gamble IMO. He knows alot about the modern game. He's done well with Croatia albeit with horrendous injury problems to key players.

He was a guest on MOTD where we had played a real bad game but instead of laying into us like Hansen and Lawrenson and the rest, he gave an articulate, constructive response to where he thought we were going wrong without sounding critical of the manager and the team. It was really impressive stuff.

As I said before I'm going with my heart on this one but it's not going to happen so maybe I'll leave this one alone now.

You know what this campaign needs?

A Facebook group. Do the necessary!

I do think football has been overcomplicated and it would be great to have someone in with a certain aura about them that players just listen to. I think he could communicate and get his point across man to man, face to face without the need for clipboards or translators or whatever. Start dealing with players at a much more humane level. The clubs never been about European style tactics and it would be great to get back to what made us so fearsome....football but with passion, heart and grit.

He's a bit of a risk because of his inexperience but if you want the safe option I guess you go with Roy Hodgson.
didnt we play a more European game than most English clubs back in the 70s etc?

                      Yes.

I can't see why we would want to go to a less technical game, that is exactly why the England football team has no worthwhile depth and can't keep possession.

i do wonder when people go on about Liverpool being known for this attacking free flowing football. The only time we did that was under the King and Uncle Roy.

I thought Rafas style was sort of like the 70s style. Can anyone help me out on that?

I'm pretty sure a high possession, crushing machine approach was our style back then.

Which other managers in world football today play this type of game.

                                Rafa - obviously
                                Maureen ?
                                Capello??

not totally sure but just throwing it out there really.
