Any stories about Deschamps, Pellegrini etc have been bull and probably jusst PR work from the club as they wanted Hodgson from the start.
Why would they care what we think? We're just the fans and as proven over time more an annoyance than anything else to them.

I would call the Yanks cunts but that gives the impression of being useful - all they care about is getting the biggest return on their investment (makes me sick saying that!) and strolling off into the sunset looking for the next opportunity to asset strip a company!

This is a man that, last year, brought a nothing club to a European final and were unlucky not to walk away with the trophy. This is the man that took a group of players and turned them into a unit that was so much bigger than their constituent parts. This is reflected in their ability to win games in Europe that no one thought they could win. It's reflected in the unbelievable comebacks they were involved in - showing a character that we could only dream of last year. All on a budget that is probably less than he would get here next year.

Don't judge a man on what you imagine he might be like on the basis of something that you think you know about him. We all talk about players that are reaching the end of their playing days but still feel like they have something to prove to the world. Players that have 2 or 3 years left of their careers and sign for a big club with more passion to prove themselves than a 20-22 year old that feels like the world owes them something because they think they only have to turn up on match day and be adored for what they will one day achieve. What about a manager that feels likt this?

Judge Hodgson on what he has obviously achieved in his career, focus on his strengths and how they would affect our team. He will almost certainly bring our players back down to earth and if he can engender the team spirit that exists presently at Fulham, then we will have a team that is closer to what most fans want - players that feel and care for the club and not just for themselves. We all want a team that will scale the heights and bring the glory back to L4 but we also want a team that we can be proud of, that reflect the values that we all hold dear and if this comes with trophys then all the better.

I for one think that Hodgson is just what we need to get back to basics and take it from there - a foundation builder that will provide solidity for the future and a team ethic that will pervade all aspects of the club.

good for you for being positive - i just don't have the same optimisim - the appointment of hodgson signals more - Liverpool will no longer be contenders for anything other than maybe the odd uefa cup or domestic cup run, no more champions league, no major player signings, no major trophy (premier league/champions league)

Thats not roy hodgsons fault, but lets look at another way.

Is Roy Hodgson being appointed by Liverpool Football Club because they really believe he is the man to deliver the Premier League title???

Imo no ****ing chance - the appointment of hodgson signals imo, that there is no takeover coming, meaning we will lose our top stars, won't be getting a new stadium and eventually we will reduce the squad to minimise costs and roy will be tasked with getting the best of whats left which will be a top 10 finish and if we get some luck a uefa or carling cup run to cheer about.

Roy might do a fantastic job - but we aren't going to be challenging for 4th let alone the title

If or when we ever get taken over - hodgson will be sacked.

I'm not even sure that the fans attitude should be such a big factor. If they think Hodgson is the best candidate then I think they are right to appoint him.

I don't like the board and I'm not convinced by their judgement on this but I don't see there being a massive consensus of who would be a really great option given the likely parameters under which they would have to work (and taking into account only realistic options). Certainly all of the managers listsed as PR stunt approaches would have had substantial amounts of people on here decrying them.

i agree dww - the board are ****ed anyway - it doesn't matter if they appointed Jesus H Christ to be manager - they will be slagged off.

My issue isn't with the appointment of roy hodgson, it's the fact that it signals we are stuck with this board/ownership for longer than i hoped.

If there was a takeover coming i was convinced that dagliesh would takeover short term till it happened and then the new manager appointed. As it is, surely hodgson(or any other manager) will not be coming in knowing that there is a bid on the table and 6 months down the line his job will be on the line. - So for me it doesn't matter if it is say hodgson or o neil or deschamps for example - the fact that it's not dalgiesh short term or a hiidink coming tells me we are stuck with the current board and owners for the forseeable future which means we can forget about challenging for titles, playing in the champions league and signing top class players.

Roy isnt being brought in to attract the big players and signal our intent is he?

I cant wait to here the spin that purslow puts on this appointment.

this stinks of having a puppet manager although i honestly think woy will do a decent job with what he is at his disposal

                  Sorry.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

No, he's the one who couldnt get in the team for any important games but played a few at the end of the season (like the last day at Arsenal) because they were resting people for the Uefa Cup.

Define important games - he played against Villa, Spurs, Chelsea, Man City and Arsenal. He also got games against a few teams at the bottom they would have been looking to win (Hull for example) and in the UEFA cup. They were mostly post December though I admit.

Can we just get SOMEONE so we can get on with backing them and looking forward a little? How has our club sunk to such a ****ty state in only a few years?

Liverpool F.C. Interview with Roy Hodgeson for the vacant Managers Position

                              Attendees –
In Person - Christian Purslow and Martin Broughton
video linkup from an underground bunker in Texas – Tom Hicks
video linkup from George Gilletts bahama’s holiday residence – a….. monkey
                              and of course Roy himself

Purslow: Hi Roy thanks for coming to the interview please take a seat
<only seat available is a dildo chair>…Roy manages to just about get comfortable on it
<Tom Hicks smiles to himself – yep this is the guy>
Purslow – So Roy what can we tell you, there is a vacancy at the club and we need a manager asap so that we can get on with the job of making the club an er…..a…..success <cough>
                              Broughton <cough>
Roy – Well yes I am very interested in the position, very interested – will I have full control of transfers in and out of the club?
Purslow – Yes you will…well when I say yes I mean you will be able to buy some players within the budgetary constraints set by the board.
Roy – Whats the budget then?
Purslow – Roy..Roy…Roy, we don’t need to discuss transfer budgets straight away I would rather discuss the techniques you applied to get the best out of Fulham – you know you have done wonders with mediocre squads in the past – how would you get the best out of the players at the club?
Roy> well firstly I would need to know what sort of budget I have to enable me to complement the current squad
Purslow> look Roy, before we talk budgets, you need to think outside the box….that box being sound logic and common sense. You need to think about how you would manage this team without Mascharano.
                              Roy> sorry what
Purslow> You know – how you would manage the club without Torres
                              Roy>Sorry? I thought you said Mascher…
Purslow> and No Gerrard either…well he may be with us he may not but the way we treat everyone either way means he will have no confidence and therefore might as well not be here.
                              Roy> I…
Broughton> What we are saying Roy is that without Masc, Torres and Gerrard can you keep this squad in the Premiership and get to the quarter finals of the Europa league?
                              Roy>thinks
                              George Gilletts Monkey>eekeekeek
Tom Hicks>Roy this is an amazing challenge, this could be your last big opportunity to be a massive success, you will have the full backing of the board, investment is about to come into the club in the shape of £200m quid and we will give you all of it, also I am about to sell the club anyhow, your job will be safe and you will get another £200m in transfer budget, and you will be leading the team out at their new stadium
Roy> but these are all words
Tom Hicks> its all true Roy just sign here and all your dreams will come true – all the issues here are complete bollocks everything is fine – we have sold 10 million shirts already
Roy> I don’t know about this, can I have it in writing that I get this budget, do I get any money from the sales of the players

Hicks> My word is my bond Roy I don’t put things in writing – I can create a company to sign off to it though if you want? In terms of providing funds from the sales of the big 3 sorry old mucker we need that in the short term but once we have the investment the £200m is all yours
                              Roy>well…
Martin Broughton>Its all true Roy, we are for sale and we a have a buyer in the pipeline, you can believe Tom he is the man
Roy> I am not sure it seems your getting rid of the key players and setting me up for a fall to be honest, I could be associated with a bad period of LFC history
Purslow> Don’t worry about the fans if they turn on you I can manipulate the press and put injunctions on the fans everything will be like clockwork <winks at Tom on video cam>
Broughton> this is the start of something wonderful, everything will be fantastic you will be the figurehead for a prosperous future at the club
Purslow> You must have heard the true rumours we are being bought by rich arabs – it will be signed and sealed on the 15th July
Broughton> Do it, you know it makes sense
                              Roy>…ummm

George Gilletts Monkey> eek eeek eeek oh oh oh <points at banana>
Broughton> He says you can have his banana if you take the job
Roy>…**** it OK I will take it
Hicks> Fantastic Roy sign here old mucker see you next Thursday, don’t worry about the contract
Purslow> you wont regret this Roy – any chance you can look at the possibility of getting Duff, Gera, Shorey, Zamora and Murphs to join you as coaching staff?
