Great performance all around! Defence was good and Lucas had a very good game. Would still prefer fourth and the fact we can do this in this competition and not in the Premier League bugs the hell out of me.

Sweet Sweet golas, Lucas took his very well, the pass from Kuyt for Torres 1st...brilliant, the players were on their toes tonight...skimming across the turf at pace with some fanatstic passing and movement.

But Lucas...he finally scored an important goal, and didn't he enjoy it...you just know that will have meant so much to him, and tonight...he reminded me of the Lucas i saw on u-tube clips before he joined us.

Some excellent performances from a couple of players I don't particularly rate (Kuyt and Lucas).

I think we were a little fortunate though, the goal came against the run of play really and we spent a lot of the time before it simply lobbing the ball forward to Torres in hope. Benfica were the better side for the first 25 minutes. The goal changed the game and we continued to improve after that and at times we were fantastic, the 3rd goal was class.

Madrid will be a tough side, they mullered us pre season but we can't read too much into that.

kyrgiakos was a bargain.

Has any one else noticed that mascher's passing has improved quite a bit of late. Spraying the passes around in a very Alonsoesque fashion. Nice ball to put Nando away for the 4th.

He also played a great cross field pass to Yossi in the first half between the 1st and 2nd goals
