    9. How long do you expect to be Chairman of LFC?

"Until we sell, so a matter of months."

    18. Can you please assure the fans that Gerrard and/or Torres won't be sold-at any price to pay off debts?

"There's absolutely no reason to sell either Torres or Gerrard. I don't want to sell either of them; Rafa doesn't want to sell either of them. The club is not looking to sell either of those. We don't need to do it to pay off any debt."

these 2 things stand out for me

Not today at least... But the gutter press seem to want to print a much **** about the club. manager and players as they can, so I doubt such statements from our chairman will stop them; especially after the accounts for 2009 have been made public..

What I have asked from Rafa is what I think any football club board would ask at the end of the season is an appraisal of each of the players, where the weak links are, which players he would prefer to sell if he had the opportunity, what players positions he needs to fill, what would be his prime candidates, which are his priorities. I don't think we start with how much money do you have, it's start with what the club needs and take it from there, and understand the priorities."

This also stood out for me.

Sounds all very civil but the crux comes were rafa hands in his list of players to sell and new ones to be brought in to improve the team. The players are sold then rafas handed the same crap he was last summer when alonso went.

The annoying thing is listen to fcukwits like lawerson bang on about how rafa's a failiure and has to go with no mention of the real cancer in the club being the 2 yanks.

The club in my opinion would be a potential jewel to any new serious owner willing to put in the time and investment over the long term. You get a world recognised brand( i know its a dirty word but thats the reality) with loyal passionate fans who just ask that they not be messed aound with. I'm not a business man but just can see how the positives of owning Liverpool fc and running it to its maximum potential outway the negatives................i'll take off the rose coloured glasses now

                4. What criteria, other than the asking price, will you apply in accepting any bid?

"I'm selling this on behalf of the owners but also on behalf of Liverpool Football Club - so yes, the bid is important but it's got to be the right owners. It's got to be someone who's going to look at the new stadium, investment for the future, who thinks about the culture, the ethos of Liverpool. It's got to be someone who can tune into that - they've got to be part of what Liverpool is all about."
It's a pity the current owners don't think like that, which makes me think he's just telling us what we want to hear.

Suggests to me that we're not going to see anything happen in the summer
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

                  I could not agree more.

He is saying all the right things but what he is really thinking and meaning to do that could be quite different I suppose.

Martin Broughton “It was a frank exchange of views, constructive and very helpful,” he said.

“The squad does need strengthening and that is an on-going process which will not be stopped by the sale.

“We have sat down with Rafa to determine what is the strength of it (the squad), what it needs, who are the right players and who needs to be sold.

“What I have asked for from Rafa is an appraisal of each of the players, where the weak links are, which players he would prefer to sell if he had the opportunity, which positions he needs to fill, who are his prime candidates and what would be his priorities.”

Thing is...if there was truly a buyer with the wealth of say an 'Ambani' looking to buy, would he not come out and say so...but with the caviat added of how the price needs to be right.

Would galvanise fans imo...knowing such a buyer was there and ready to commit, but being held up by the owners stubborness and greed, maybe no one really wants to buy lfc...well no one with deep enough pockets.

Expect there are many many reasons why a prospective buyer wouldn't do that, shame really, as i feel by doing so it would mean the pressure would really be on to sell then, it would still be down to the 'pair o ****s', but we as fans would atleast know the truth.

i think any buyer has looked at the asking price and laughed/baulked. before saying 'call us back when you've had a reality check.'

As do i, but if they were to make it public...would it not galvanise fans into making a proper stand against the ownership, would also put pressure on Broughton, we would know there was a very wealthy buyer out there willing to invest if they could get the club at it's true value...Broughton would have to explain the reasons why the club isn't being sold to such a person...he may be forced to admit the asking price is too high.

This is all too easy for our leeching owners right now...while they sit back the club sinks further...and we don't know diddly about their or Broughtons true motives in all this...except for what THEY tell us, which on reflection isn't worth a wank.

Would really like any prospective buyer to make their intentions known, put the pressure on the owners and Broughton for a change, otherwise we could be here in this position at the end of next bloody season.

i think the only time well here from prospective buyers is either when they have completed a deal or when they've walked away in frustration.

Thinking about this, it's all wrong, the longer this plays out the more suspicious i become, and i don't like the fact that someone who likley moves in the higher circles of Chelsea FC like Broughton! has inside knowledge on the feelings of a player like Torres, or any other target they might have currently at our club, it stinks to high heaven what's now going on and the people now in charge at this club.
