OK Fredo, enlighten me because I was under the impression that the chairman runs the meetings of the board of directors where they make all the decisions about the companies operations.Originally posted by Gordon Brown

Yes he's a facilitator, exactly what he's been brought in here to do. To facilitate the sale of this club. Do you think David Moores was running the club? He never run it, it was Parry and his staff much in the same way Purslow & Co. are doing now.Originally posted by Red Chilli View PostOK Fredo, enlighten me because I was under the impression that the chairman runs the meetings of the board of directors where they make all the decisions about the companies operations.

Yes, I know, that is not even being debated.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostPurslow is running the club mate, Broughton's sole responsibility is to find a buyer.
He is the chairman of BA though and as such has an involvement in it's running at a very high level.

I've seen an interview where he categorically state that Purslow & Co. were going to run the club, not him.Originally posted by Red Chilli View PostAnd you know this how, exactly?
Chairman never run football clubs (or any other company) mate. That is why he'll still be sitting on BA's board whilst doing the same thing with us. He does have a say in the decision making (he can influence decisions) but he doesn't foresee the day to day operations of the business, that's down to the Managing Director and his team, like at any Company.

To make a parallel, a football club's business environment is much different to say British Airways, which is much more complex (and BA is probably worth much more than Liverpool), so I expect a professional like him to treat this job he's been given to do like routine.
I also think that the Americans, whilst being bad as owners (they never possessed the required financial strength to take us to the next level) are doing things the right way. Broughton seems to be a very positive appointment and allied to the managing team that we have now, with Purslow, Ian Ayres & Phillip Nash the future looks rosey. We just need that extra financial backing to push us through to the next level.
We need stability on the playing side of things as well as on the managing side of it, that is why Rafa is not going anywhere and he'll probably benefit from the assurances that we're going to have new owners before next season and substantial money to compete.
