Being out of the CL for next season will make Rafa focus on the league next season if he is still here. It could be one of the best things to happen to us.

sadly the league doesn't lie - we'll finish where we deserve this season - probably sixth now - got to be some massive changes in the summer both the yanks gone (hopefully) and I think a new manager - we need a change of direction and some fresh impetous!
Can't wait for this ****ing season to end so I can get my hopes up again for next year!!

We weren't ****, we actually played well against a team who had no intention of trying to play. They just wanted to conserve energy. Our problem, and has been for quite sometime, was that we seem pretty clueless when it comes to breaking down teams who park the good old bus of defence.Originally posted by Mattshark View PostYeah but that won't stop the thickos on here acting like we were ****.
The only other thing I think we should of done and that is started with Kuyt upfront in place of Ngog. I'm not a big fan of Kuyt but I would of been more confident with him starting up front than the youngster. Ngog should of been the one coming on with 15-20 mins to go.

I think it made sense to try & replace Alonso. Honestly, I think Rafa was screwed over with regards to funds in the summer, starting it thinking we had some sort of kitty & buying Johnson, ending it having to break even and bringing in Aquilani because we got a well structured deal. Most reports in the know say we spent nothing like £17m upfront on him. It hasn't worked out so far, but ultimately our current squad is well short in terms of genuine creativity and goals from a variety of positions, let alone upfront sans Torres, so I think the problem is much greater than one player.Originally posted by Bender View Posttbh i think the £17million we used for Aquilani should have gone on a quality strikerI could not dig, I dared not rob:

Even with Torres.......we provided enough evidence of this type of dominance in games at Anfield, and still came out of games with a only a point to show for it.
Forgetting the amount of attempts on goal, there was a real lack of good clear-cut chances created, and we certainly didn't alter our approach at all in the final third at any point in the game.
The lack of intelligent movement (not just from the likes of N'Gog) in the last 30yrds is embarrassing to say the least..., and that is precisely whats needed against these sort of sides who have no ambition to get anything more than a point....................we see this all to often from our lads for my liking"I will make the boys feel your support"
