All I was trying to say is that you come across as more than happy with our season and that 5th or 6th would be acceptable and therefore a good season.

Not just wide areas, midfield in general. We only have 7 players in the squad who have scored more than 1 goal this season

2002/2003 we come second in the league to the gunners

2003/2004 we completely fall apart in league but finish 4th

2008/2009 we come second in the league to the scum (but should have won the league)

And our midfielders. And one or two from defenders would be nice too. Our whole team seriously lacks firepower, putting far too much pressure on a very select number of players to score constantly.

To be fair there were people being just as bad for games last season.

We need to buy a quality striker in the summer. The likes of villa and co are out of our budget. I would have a serious look at forlan.

What decent striker will want to play europa football and sit on the bench for most games?

How can it be a dramatic over reaction when it is looking as though we are going to finish 5th or 6th, possibly 7th.

For god's sake we have played this season with one striker, absolutely world class, who unfortunately has been a bit injury prone, and one youngster. Even the majority of us non football managers could see that was going to be disasterous. Then we have the purchase of a badly injured midfileder leaving us with a weakened squad for most of the season. As good as I believe Aquilani will be, purchasing him injured when the squad wasn't big enough was also a disasterous move. There is more but these two examples show why people have reacted in the way they have and it is no over reaction, it's a realistic reaction.

I started to have serious doubts about this season when we were so so poor in our pre season games. You could see that the team was not working well together and we had regressed.

The manager planned his transfers around a promised budget, a budget that was cut by 20mill..who knows who he would have bought, or wanted to buy till that happened, had he even already done the deal for Aquilani.....and then suddenly he was left with only enough cash for Kyriagos.... who knows, but i imagine Rafa would have liked to buy more players too...including a top class striker...like Berbatov for 30mill, who when needed most...can't score. (hehe)
