****ing hell I wouldn't even blame Gerrard for sitting out the remaining games.

It's the world cup. It comes around every 4 years and you're in a team capable of winning the damn thing. Or you're in a **** teaming, playing **** football, playing with **** players and managed by a great manager and you're struggling with injuries. I know what I'd do.
We pay his ****ing wages. **** international teams/football. LFC always comes first. Ask Carra.

And a UEFA/Europa league win may mean nothing to you but it is a trophy and i want this club to ****ing win a thing or 2. This was his best chance to win his first trophy with Liverpool and he chose his country. Each to their own but he has gone down a couple of notches in my book today.

Sometimes it goes much more beyond wages and money Tee. Ask yourself what you want from him?

A couple of matches more and worsen the injury and then miss the beginning of the next season or miss the remaining games of the wretched season?

Is it his fault that we dont have a decent back up striker or his fault that Ratfa thinks N'gog is good enough to play second fiddle to Torres

        FAO Tee

Did you read what Torres said " "On Friday afternoon in Liverpool the scan I had cleared up the doubts and made us see that I would almost definitely have to have an operation.

        Target
"The meniscus was affected and the doctors said they had to operate."

The doctors advised him to have sugery, he could not have played any games anyway as he needed the operation

Never saw that quote. I thought the Spanish Doctor said he was fine.

              Fair enough.

The vultures can walk away, me and Fernando are still cool.

Ask Carra. Right. I love the bones of the guy, but if he'd been an England regular he wouldn't have made the stance he did.

Torres will always put Spain before Liverpool or any other club, just accept it. Reina would do the same if he was first choice.

I personally think the work load he puts in for us by having to chase lost causes, long balls and the like have contributed greatly to his injuries. If he had someone to share the burden and take some of the kicks and do some of the chasing, he'd be be in a lot better shape. It seems to me its like having a Ferrari that you flog to death flat out all the time, how long would it last?

I'm not sure he'd run any less or work less hard or get kicked less often if he had a partner up front.
                  .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

fair enough. But surely if we're punting long hopeful balls upfront time and again, he'd only have to chase 50% of them on average as hopefully the other 50% would be down the side of the other forward?

If the other forward was little then I agree the kicking would be the same, but if you went for a target man then he'd surely take the brunt leaving Torres to finish off the flick ons?

The defenders wouldn't know who to close down. By playing one he just gets so isolated. The one up front system does/can work but at what cost long term?

I agree, Gerrard is scared ****less of getting injured which is why he appears to be cruising atm

To be honest though I cant accuse Torres of being in that category when he has played.

If anything this means that Torres will be here next season imo.

The lad has too much class to leave after a season where hes been injured so much, I think he would he will want to give the fans at least one more seaqson before packing his bags. I hope.

its two seasons of being injured.

Whatever the system we're still going to have eleven players on the pitch and the most dangerous attackers get the most ****. As for miles covered, his job is to chase the ball and close down in advanced areas - having one player taking it easy must mean we'd be weaker. Of course that may be offset by having another striker up top making us more dangerous but that's open to serious doubt at least.

Long-term impact is a fair point but that's even more imponderable. We just have to hope the management team know what they're doing and give him a rest from time to time. I imagine that's partly why he gets taken off - I seem to remember someone (it may have been Rafa or could have been someone from an entirely club) saying injuries were more likely when players get tired.

Of course, unless the game is done and dusted then Rafa gets slated because he's taken him off...

God damnit, after placing a few needles into my brain to jog my memory I see that you're right. It was Bojan I was remembering. I feel as thick as a UTD fan. I cant even fall back on their names sounding similar excuse.
