He was very good in his first season here and genuine wingers who can play at that level in the PL are at a premium. If our new manager wants to play with a lot of width then he would have to consider keeping him I would have thought.

I rather see him sold myself as his conduct has been pretty poor this season.

I hope we keep him. He was wrong to question the manager, as any player is, even if I agreed with his actual sentiment. Now that manager has gone and we'll have another I hope he doesn't repeat this act. I like him as a player and what he has to offer.

Pretty poor is an understatment. Apparently he attacked a youth player! Nah, he needs to go.

He did have very strong first season (was chosen for very strong Spain team at that time) but his off-the-pitch behavior is far from being ideal.

TBH, I think Pennant was a better player.

I hope the new manager assesses each player in terms of mentality, squad harmony, ability and ambition. We are going to need some bloody committed players next year as we have one hell of a fight on our hands just to get back into the champions lg

yes, nicey. i propose we shouldn't hang onto anyone with a potential ability below about 165.

Albert Riera has finally broken his silence on Rafael Benitez's departure, hailing it as the re-opening of the door to his Anfield career.

Speaking in his native Spain, the disgraced Liverpool winger has hit back following his banishment by the former Kop boss in April for publicly slamming Benitez's managerial style and brandishing the club as a "sinking ship".

Riera was transfer-listed but failed to secure a move to Russia before the season ended, which cost him a place in Vicente del Bosque's squad for this summer's World Cup.

But the 28-year-old has spoken of his joy of the dismissal of the man who brought him to Anfield less than two years ago and believes that he may now have a future at the club with the opportunity of a fresh start under a new manager.

He said: "On a personal level, I benefit from his departure. I was looking around for other options for the past couple of months. It was a closed door for me but now it is open once again.

"For now I'm staying but we know that unexpected things can happen in football. The good thing is that I still attract interest and I'm sure the price wouldn't be a problem

"It's a pity because under normal circumstances I could've been in the squad, a World Cup is the biggest event in a footballer's career".

Credit to you for being honest, but I disagree. Riera has better delivery and isn't affraid of shooting or cutting intro the box.

                          Sick of his pathetic comments.

Cannot say that I'm surprised by his comments. His big mouth put him in a hole and probably will keep him there. ..
