I would've thought so. Personally I wanted City to win tonight. There's not much in it and I understand the other viewpoint, but as things stand it looks like a big five (Chelsea, Mancs, Arsenal, Spurs, City) rather than four. City were gonna spend big anyway and although the quality of player they target may be lowered, they'll still plunder millions (they attracted Tevez et al without CL football) and Spurs now have the added pulling power of CL. Makes it more difficult for us IMO.

We had no choice though, he wanted to go. Portsmouth paid him £60,000 per week, around double what we were paying him. We couldn't compete with Portsmouth.

I do agree that we should've used him more often and his relegation in the pecking order behind Voronin was hard to stomach. I certainly wish he was still with us.

I've got to say this. Redknapp somehow gets a 4-4-2 to work with Luka Modric as one of his central midfield players. That totally flies in the face of all modern tactical thinking. And yet they looked solid and kept a clean sheet. Modric's partner, the impressive Huddlestone, is hardly a Makelele type either. Rafa would never in a million years play Modric as a central midfield player flanked by two wingers and behind two out and out strikers, and to be fair nor would I!

How is it working for them?
