I'm not convinced that another manager would have got us 4th last season with the same squad. The problem for me goes back to Rafa having the rug ripped out from under his feet last summer as regards transfer budget. At the start of the summer he was told he'd have more money than he got. IMO if he'd known what he really had to spend, the money would have been spent differently i.e. on a striker. I still believe with a decent (average) striker as back up to Torres we'd have picked up the 7 extra points we would have needed to secure 4th place. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

sorry only just seen this been i the england squad thread all day
Whilst i totally agree, he got **** on with transfer funds - i still feel that he made mistakes at times with squad selection and getting the players motivated - whether that was down to the players being cunts or poor management is not too relevant because ultimatley it's always the manager who bites the bullet.
We were so **** this season, and even with a weak squad and some bad injuries to our star man torres, we only missed out by 7 points.......i think even we out torres we should have made those 7 points up and i for one do believe that a ferguson, capello, mourinho, wenger, ancelotti etc with the same squad would have got us in the top 4 - just an opinion
for example - the 4-5-1 is great when the one is torres - but when torres was injured, i really think especially for some of the ****ing shocking home games, he should have tried something else from the start, maybe 4-3-3 with masher, gerrard, lucas, and babel, ngog, kuyt or gone 4-4-2 with gerrard and mascher, two wingers and and 2 of kuyt/babel/ngog/pacheco.
there was some shocking lacklustre performances last season. - just because one player was injured was no excuse.i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

I agree that Rafa has made mistakes, as to whether another manager would have done better with the same squad we'll never know. I feel sorry for Rafa and as someone mentioned in another thread I'd like to see what he could do without all the political and ownership issues hanging over him. As far as the team goes I don't know what the problem is but Rafa needs to sort it, if he doesn't and we have another season like the last one I can't see many of the supporters standing by him this time next year!
I've also said on numerous occasions that the system we play only really works with Gerrard and Torres playing in it. And both suffer when the other isn't there. I think we need to sort out our system for next season, without both Gerrard and Torres in there we can't play the way we try to. I don't know what system we should play but we need to bring in some quality attacking players in this summer. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I back Rafa for a few reasons
Number 1 he's the the manager of Liverpool FC and until this past year he has not any control of the academy and his transfer dealing were dealt a huge blow last year with the Alonso money ,
I think that he should be allowed to see out the remaining years of his contract , only then can we decide, He has shown in the past couple of months with the signings of a few youth players , let these players devolop .
Make no mistake we over achieved in the previous season and this put pressure on us last season , there's no way that we are good enough to challenge for the title yet on our income ,
My message is....................let Rafa have the full plan , let the dead wood go ( if that includes Stevie Me then so be it ) , Give Rafa the money from sales and let him build a team , because in 3 years time we have a crop of youths ready to take over
You Can Lead A Horse To Water , But A Pencil Must Be Lead!

Some from column AOriginally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostI would give him the boot as he failed to meet the minimum objectives of qualify from the group stages in the CL and more importantly, failed to finish top 4.
I don't deny he has been restriced due to the owners, they must take the brunt of the blame for our lack of title challenge. But our squad should still have been good enough for 4th and the fact it didn't I put down to lack of motivation from the manager, of failed tactics.
That said, I wouldn't just kick him for the sake of it. He is a top manager still and I would only let him go if we could bring in another top quality manager. Had we been able to get someone like mourinho in, I would have had to have said adios. But I see there little chance of us recruiting a top manager in, so I guess he has to stay.
And some from column B.Originally posted by MrMichael View PostI think the feelings on here are generally very mixed. There's small but occasionally vocal groups both on the firmly pro and anti sides, then a much larger group of everyone else in the middle who to some degree or other get frustrated with some aspects of his management but generally respect his love for the club, and are also concerned that we'd get a worse replacement should he leave.
Most people right now do seem to be (rightly) more concerned with our ownership situation, and know that whoever our manager is they're in for a very hard time as long as the 2 leeches are in charge.
Depends the day you ask me, but I agree 100% with both of those posts (except the Mourinho bit, hate the ****er).
