Tomkins no longer writing for official site

I know some people find his articles long winded, overly positive, too much about himself etc. etc. I have not agreed with all of his analysis. However hats of to him for taking such a stance.

As a writer, such a decision can have a direct impact on his income as he will not be read by as many people.

Irrespective of what you think about his articles, I think we should all applaud him for taking such a stance.

"And I want to speak out against Gillett and Hicks with impunity; to do so without worrying about upsetting anyone at Anfield. "

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Tompkins is one of the best football writers around, objective cool, humorous and detailed.

Very good writer. Its a shame he will not be writing for the site anymore as it means that what he has to say will probably be seen by fewer people.
Jacques Brel is alive and well and playing at Anfield

I support his actions and find his articals enjoyable, even if they are a bit long winded at times.. He's a good writer...

May be they are offering vacant position to Jamie Kuntwar from Aloadofcomplete-toss, because of his untainted and unbiased views and glowing support for the liverpool executive, board and ownership - Afterall the all problems the club face are fan generated and not because of any actions of G&H, as they've done nothing wrong in his eyes, as he as all the facts, you know... It's all media scaremongering to maintian a fan hatered agenda for our wonderful owners, I tell you.. well he tells his readers really... LOL...

By the way who is that guy, is he for real? How can anyone be so pro- G&H is beyond me, regardless... It's almost like that site was set up by H&G's PR Team..LOL

I wouldn't actually call him a good writer. I like his considered approach and I wish other writers would do even a quarter of the amount of research he does.

But his writing style doesn't engage, it's far too dry and academic. There has to be a reason why so many people can't get through his articles - it's not simply because they're long.

But that's carping - his heart's in the right place and I wish him luck elsewhere. I assume someone here will always post what he writes and since this is where I read him I won't be missing out.
                      .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

                        Fair play to him.

I've got all his books on Liverpool and they are brilliant
